I use stable release too and I use Opera, with “million” of open Tabs, and have zero issues, independent whether I start MSFS with already running Opera ( main-case ) or later if MSFS is started. I also have hardware-acceleration enabled.
Have you checked whether other updates are nearby these “14 days” where the issue started ?.. Gpu drivers? some others ?
Not sure whether Chrome starts a process with the svhost service, its hard to see. MemClean will not help if a piece of chrome is still running.
Have you checked that also the setting “Run app in background” is disabled ? ( nearby the hardware acceleration setting )
What exactly is the error message in case MSFS crash because of Chrome in Windows Event Log ? Can you paste it here?
My workaround for this is to simply ctl-alt-del, and then cancel / escape. That unfreezes the sim for me
This problem exists with the Brave browser (which is based on Chromium, as are Chrome and I believe Edge), but I’ve just installed / tested Firefox which does NOT freeze MSFS. So I guess I’ll be migrating to Firefox …
I’ve start to have the same isues after the Win11, SU10 and latest Nvidia drivers updates. The arrival of FSLTL confused me because i consider the problem was that two programs. My community folder its quite empty to suspect something else.
Today i realized that the problem was the Google Chrome. Some times when i open or reload a web page the sim freezes for min 45 secs to max 2 mins. I’ve never had a CTD, only suffering from that long haul freezes. The quick solution i have found is to just press the windows button on keyboard to open the taskbar. That unfreeze immediately the sim.

Win11 (new installation)
I7 12700
GA B660
16GB DDR4 Ram
GTX 1060 6GB
Corsair 750W PSU
I am running 2 monitors at 1080p, one for 2020 and one for Charts/chrome/Acars/Vpilot etc.
Nothing else can help. Not even new MSFS intallation, rollback drivers version, empty community folder or even editing the NCP.
Same problem today with Chrome on Win11. It took me an hour to realise it was the culprit … I thought at first it a generic of MSFS-being-sent-to-the-background issue, but it only does it if the app I’m switching to is Chrome.
Ok, i am having this issue with Beyond ATC. When i switch between the UI and the sim, FS freezes up. Fix is ctrl+alt+del and then cancel, but i cant fly like that.
