Yes - if I use the balanced power plan only 1st 8 cores/16 threads in CCD0 are used by the sim whereas with the ultimate power plan, the sim is loaded on CCD0 and then utilizes all of the cores/threads. The sim seems to run best for me under the ultimate power plan as it spreads out the work better and minimizes stutters. Now with SU4, the mainthread is offloaded a little more and spreads the work even better yet.
Sounds like something is off with your PC. Balanced power plan should use the 1st CCD (CCD0) and it looks like the CCD1 non-vcached cores are being used. There’s an option in the bios called CPPC (or Collaborative Processor Performance Control option) that you can set which specifies how the CCD’s are used. It sounds like yours is set to always prefer using the higher frequency CCD1 cores. I have CPPC set to “driver decides” in the bios such that I can manage the CCD’s via the ultimate and balanced power plans. Balanced plan runs games in CCD0 exclusively and Ultimate run games in CCD0 but provides the option to utilize the other cores in CCD1.
Having said all of this, I firmly believe at this point in time AMD/Microsoft have vastly improved the handling of the CCD’s to where Process Lasso is not really needed. See this thread for my test results for using Process Lasso.
