Sim Update Beta 4 Discussion Thread

These betas seem to have a long tail, you think they must be nearly there and they keep going another month.

Is there a bug thread for this ? Because i don’t recall seeing any (but i have seen the issues you are talking about.)

No patch on Steam yet

There’s a bug thread for the frame rate limiter issue - it affects Nvidia cards too.

Can’t speak to the night light artifacts issue.

And in case you were referring to this one…

I just did a flight with the A350 on Vatsim, EGLL to EBBTlR. With SU3 I could not really use the A350 due to the stutters and low FPS. With SU4 beta I am able to achieve almost steady 60 fps. Unbelievable, what an increase in performance!

I’ve had it rarely. Not sure what triggers it.

It would be good to have an option to stop that from happening. I’ve been outside a plane for no more than 10 seconds or so, and back in the cockpit the dials are all blurry.

There are some crash fixes in there which are good for everyone.

I haven’t had a moment to test new BETA, how’s the VRAM performance?

I noticed usage creeping up during builds of su4 beta

That one is known and i’ve voted in it already but thanks.

For me, patch 1.6.16 was excellent. FPS improved, VRAM usage decreased, improved fps stability during landing, and nighttime lighting is great.

The only thing that needs improvement is AI traffic, as there are still some crazy aircraft on the runway and AI vessels that sometimes hover over the ground.
I don’t use FG, DLSS performance at 4K, all settings on high. LODs at 100.

Oh wow! This is really good. Smoooooth. Awesome lighting. Sunset flight in the 172 just now was beautiful. Kudos to the Devs

Well not so good for me. Some stutters in VR and more black lines in the water around SFO.

Anyone noticed with the new night lighting there is always a sort of ring of haze around the aircraft?

issue where the Flightsimulator2024.exe stays active after shutting down the SIM

Yes, I’ve had this with at least betas .13 and .15, and I think as early as .11.

For those who are on the SU4 beta, I have a question since I’m not currently using it. Are you seeing any improvement at 3rd party airports that were ā€œcompatibleā€ with 2024 and not native? For instance, with VerticalSim KTPA, folks have been seeing stutters since it was launched. Works flawlessly in 2020. Devs have admitted that the compatible versions have these issues… just curious if anyone has seen improvement in SU4 with similar products that were having issues in SU3.

I see blurry gauges now and then, but with a AMD graphics card and FSR3, and have through the last few beta versions. I hope it is being worked on, too!

DLSS worked so well in 2020.
