Sim Update Beta 4 Discussion Thread

Tried VR for the first time in SU4. The LOD does seem better overall, objects are visible all the way to the horizon.

But a huge issue is that the World Scale seems completely off. Even at normal World Scale, when in the Pimax Headset, It feels like your head is too close to the cockpit, as if everything is zoomed in. Very disconcerting and not really playable in VR like this.

I tried adjusting the World Scale slider all the way down to 80%, but it made no difference in fixing the scale

Some activation issues with SU4 and PMDG 777, Just Flight aircraft and some GSX issues…..BUT I couldn’t be happier that the VR issue was fixed straight away.

I am not able to do anything in the Sim now. Back to back CTDs even when I go back to SU3! Did not have any CTDs until today. Reinstalled the Sim and got CTD again.

That’s related to the size of your page file. Sometimes a reboot will fix it but if not you can adjust the size the page file as long as you have enough space on the drive. Also try and use your systems fastest drive if possible.

Didn’t look any different from previous builds in my Pimax Super

Looked the same for me too, also with Pimax Super. Only tried gliders so far though.

Yeah, i found it ! I set 32768 Min and 65536 Max, like you. Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

I rebooted and my FPS are back to normal but the AP on the ILS in the 787 is still broken, maybe even reversed. At least I could land the plane manually this time.

I have records of the FPS in SU3 and this is faster including the flare to landing, the real test.

Looks like others are having major problems hopefully will clean up… and keep the FPS.

Cloud turbulence was promised as a feature in pre-launch marketing. It’s disappointing that there is still no sign of it in the latest beta.

Works here …

For my system SU4 beta has completely solved the choppy stutter I was getting on my system when near dense scenery environments. Seems like my main thread is rock solid now.

Separating the public career from the beta makes the whole beta completely useless, I had recently resumed my career and I was having fun, I will try the beta for a few hours and I will return to Su3 to have fun in career

Lovely. Now’s the time

Not sure where I saw such a thing was “promised” - do you have a link?

Same here for me.

In VR, not 2D. I upped my image quality in Pimax Client to high (full 100% resolution. In msfs2024 settings I increased DLSS from performance all the way to Quality. And msfs rendering from low end all the way up to Ultra. And now I have FR locked in msfs setting at 25, it used to be 24, so about the same.

So instead of increasing fps, I went for higher image settings. This is a tremendous increase in image quality at now decrease in performance. I have zero pauses when approaching a dense scenery airport, and no tiny stutters on initial roll out on take offs.

Anyone who is not in the beta is giving up LOTS of fps performance or LOTS of image quality.

I use parking brake SET instead (on a toggle switch that stays put when you move it. So switch forward is always on and switch back is always off. That’s what a SET command is for.

Audio pops: Try msfs sound settings and make sure both mic and phones are using the exact same audio driver.

Me too. Enormous performance boost! I’ve never seen anything boost performance as much as SU4 BETA.
