Stutters although high FPS

SO, SO much has to do with FS servers and the live weather (least), and multiplayer (big hit), and real live traffic - but also AI traffic. Right now Im on a supersmooth ride. Im also offline, in the sim. Im not transferring or receiving any data (or has to deal with others data). Time and live weather on here - but rest off. Theres where MS need to do an affort; fix how the servers affects fps, stuttes and gameplay I guess… =)

Oh, as mentioned before: if you still want live traffic etc - try to change server. Im living in north europe and the southeasian servers do wonders for me.

I have the exact same problem. I do not think it is PC related but more of a server / bandwidth issue. Look at which at the server you are connected to, the latency can vary tremendously. If MS wants us to buy a internet intensive sim, they need to ensure that we can get reliable and fast data flow. My problems started when the Beta started for the next update.

Yes, but for me (at least) choosing a server with lower ping is absolutely not the best option. Instead, a server thats located far, far away (but not in another galaxy) gives me much (much!!) better smoothness in the game. =)

Thanks - I will try this.

I got my FPS back.

I use the Nvidia App and allowed it to ‘optimise FS2020’.

By reverting back to my previous settings I have gone from 20 to 60FPS with no stutters.

But I still belive that MS servers cause a lot of issues at times.

anyone solved this issue? i have just purchased a brand new pc, the guy who built me said it would be able to run FHD on high/ultra comfortabley. I get great FPS usually between 50 and 60FPS, typically not dropping below 40 usually, but constant stutters, same as some mention above on the external camera panning around. Drives me nuts. Just upgraded from Xbox Series X, spent £1200 on a new PC plus prbably around another £150 on addons/a second monitor, and i found it ran better on xbox…please can someone point me in the right direction? My specs are Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU, 4060Ti GPU, 32GB ram, 2TB SSD. I play on medium to high settings, although these stutters can even occur if i just randomly set the settings to low…

  • The 4060 Ti comes with either 8GB or 16GB VRAM. Which one do you have? It probably isn’t a VRAM issue, since you’re getting good FPS, but it’s worth monitoring VRAM usage with the dev mode counter. It’s a well-known issue with the sim right now (although the latest patch seems to have changed things for the better for some people.

  • How big is your Rolling Cache?

  • Are you using an XMP or EXPO profile for your RAM? You should.

  • Do you have a SATA SSD or an M.2 SSD? (SATA is slow, M.2 SSD is faster, and an NVMe M.2 drive (another type of Solid State Drive) is the fastest.

  • What nVidia driver are you using?

  • What speed is your internet connection? Who is your ISP?

1.16gb vram.
2. Rolling cache is set to 64gb.
3. I am new to PC so not overly technical and not sure what this means.
4. Not sure what the SSD is. Just know its 2TB.
5. GeForce Game ready driver version 566.36
6. Internet isnt amazing, usually around 50mbps, BT is the operator. But never had issues on xbox with stutters, so i can only assume its something settings or hardware related. The PC cost me £1200, and i was told it should be able to handle the sim on 1080p on high/ultra settings easily.

  1. 16GB VRAM should be fine.
  2. My Rolling Cache is set to 100GB, but others have said that 128GB is best, while others have said more or less. I don’t think anyone has a clear understanding of what the RC actually does.
  3. RAM speed is a function of frequency and timings. RAM runs by default at what is called SPD frequency: 4200, 4800, 5200 MT/s. XMP and EXPO are profiles that you can apply in your motherboard’s BIOS to boost RAM frequency. Different RAM/ motherboard combos will use either XMP or EXPO. It doesn’t matter which, and you won’t be allowed to use a profile that your system doesn’t support. Mine uses XMP to boost the RAM to DDR5-6400. Timings are most complicated, but you’ll see a number like ‘CL30, CL32, CL38, etc.’ It stands for CAS Latency. Generally speaking, the lower the better. Mine is CL32.
You want to apply either XMP or Expo so your RAM will run at the best stable speed.
  4. It is what it is. Most computers these days use M.2 drives. It’s rare to find one that still uses SATA SSD’s, so don’t worry about it.
(I can help you figure out what kind of drive it is if you want. Send me a PM.)
  5. GeForce driver can definitely affect gameplay. Some report problems with 566.36, while others report better gameplay. It’s a carpshoot.
  6. Were you running FS2024 on your Xbox? FS2024 is a different animal, as it relies much more heavily on delivering game assets via the internet as you move through the virtual world.

There are so many other variables in PC setup with the new sim that it’s sometimes next to impossible to say why one system works great, where another does not.

Bottom line:

  • Make sure you have enabled XMP or EXPO in your BIOS.
You can start with this tutorial.
  • If using WiFi and you’re having problems, try hard-wiring the PC to your internet router as a troubleshooting step. Also, sharing a WiFi connection with other WiFi devices in your house can cause problems - especially with a fairly low speed 50 Mb/s connection. And understand that a lot depends on the servers that Microsoft uses to deliver the sim assets to you. I don’t think they have that side of things optimized yet.
