The 1927 Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis

He didn’t sleep. Indeed he put some dedication into not doing so.

He did use the toilet though! The seat was fitted to work such.

I once flew Lindbergh’s flight with a TMB, who knew his actual plane would be available in the sim one day!

Having tried it though… my god. I can’t fathom how someone was able to do this in real life. It’d be a feat even in the game. Landing while looking through that periscope alone is nuts.

I made a testflight with 50% fuel. The Spirit is difficult on the ground. Takeoff was easy, in the air it is flying nicely and landing was ok .

Not sure if I do the flight, though.

REF:

Thanks… When you fix it, would you consider sharing what caused it… ie Modeller or Tool error … – just curious-- not see that happen before at all LOD levels.

So, if a guy wants to do the 30+ hour flight, how does saving work?

It automatically saves progress at each checkpoint (hourly) however the issue I’m having is when continuing from checkpoint 1 the time is still 07:52 (the time I initially took off). I only want to fly one hr at a time but don’t want it to always be 07:52 each time I continue. I want to be flying over the Atlantic in the dark and seeing the sunrise.

For me the only way to do it (if I do it) is with no break and matching time of day.

Awesome, tyvm for the help. I clicked on everything and even turned on those stupid cockpit tool tips and still couldn’t see it sitting up there in the dark corner. Anyways much appreciated!

Cheers!!!

Just fixed on my side, this will be fixed in the next update.
But… if you don’t want to wait, here are the code to replace

Landing by periscope is the trippiest thing I’ve ever done in VR. And using spirit levels to confirm straight & level flight were just icing on the cake. What a fun aircraft!

Many Thanks, I can easily do that quick edit.

What update do you mean by "next update: System Update, World Update, or other ?

other, a minor update is planned in the upcoming days

I love this plane and the option to look far out of the window, it’s surprisingly good for sightseeing!

I seem to have a problem when low on fuel, about 5 percent. The engine starts losing power but doesn’t cut out completely. Is 5 percent fuel too low?

Update: the engine is losing power when Main Tank 1 is empty (and there are many gallons of fuel in the other tanks). Is there any way to feed this tank in flight from other tanks or is this maybe a bug?

It seems that the hand operated fuel pump doesn’t do anything. Was it supposed to transfer fuel between tanks?

It’s an outstanding plane, beautifully done for sure and Im glad they are updating it.

Do you have a problem with engine losing power with lower fuel levels?

I don’t see any updates in Content Manager.

Correct - I was wrong – I had edit the xml file yesterday, messed up, deleted the plane, and today (before Coffee - so half asleep) it re-downloaded the same original version of the plane.

Sorry - we all make mistakes I guess.

Absolutely wonderful plane. Love, how it gracefully lifts off the runway, and settles into a slow and steady climb. Excellent and believable engine sounds as well, and I can easily see myself spending 36h over the atlantic, just trying to figure out the fuel pipes and valves in the cockpit

After the DHC-2 and the Cabri, the NYP is now the third plane I spent some time with, and again, I’m amazed about the attention to detail.
Thank you @BlueMesh3192

Impressive - great atttention to detail, and the recreation of the periscope is very neat. Didn’t see any cabin light, though I probably missed the switch.
Part of me likes the idea of recreating these long distance flights - last year I did Amy Johnson’s route to Australia in a Cub (chosen for steam guages and a decent view), and I fancy emulating one of the US postal routes (after seeing the concrete markers on QI) - but I’m struggling with the idea of sitting over the ocean for 30+ hours (or more when I get lost!) with no view. Good addition to the sim though, and it flies well.

Thank you all for your feedbacks

@trgz here is the panel light switch:
