Description of the issue: Unable to Activate Multiplayer “Live Players” in Free Flight

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes / None installed. Also did a Steam File Verification without any errors.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1. Open Settings > Online > Make sure Multiplayer is ON as well as Live Weather.
2. Go to Free Flight > Flight Conditions > Make sure Weather and Time is Live as well as Air Traffic
3. Still Unable to activate Multiplayer as it’s greyed out…

so the odd thing here is, you have to pull the red time indicator off of the end of the time strip over to the left, which takes you off of live time. Then the All Players option will be available/set once you are in the flight, then you can change to live time if you wish. Bug or feature, i am not sure.

I tried what you explained.

Moved the Time History towards the center, start the flight, Open the Weather Menu but still unable to activate Live Players somehow? Seems I can’t even click on the Live Players Menu to change it while in-game?

I also figured it out, really is it a bug or intended future? Was fun to figure it out after 15mins…

nah, the “live players/all players” choice has to be made on the world map. once you are in a flight, you cannot change it. Thats the same it was in 2020.

Can not for the life of me figure it out.

I wonder… Do we need a xbox live account and or subscription for live to work?

Same issue here, it’s been a problem for me since day 1, all multiplayer elements work fine like weather, AI, and the challenge leaderboards - it’s just the multiplayer options in free flight are greyed out and nothing changes that

500mb internet
No MSFS2020 addons
Windows 11

Things that I’ve tried:

Reinstalling the game deleting all residual folders,

Clearing the cloud save and starting over,

Signing in and out of Xbox app on windows,

Loading into a actual flight and trying to change settings,

Trying a workaround in another thread (to move the live time slider),

Making sure I’m online and not hidden or invisible in both Xbox app and steam friends,

Trying different in-game servers (east/west/eu),

In-game I can see my Xbox friends on the top right corner so it’s clearly connected, it’s just that no matter what I do the multiplayer options stay grayed out, hope for a fix

You have to change the personal security settings in the Xbox app, this fixed it for me!

Doesn’t work for everyone. I allowed all things and it was still greyed out.

Did you restart your computer?

YES! That’s done it on my end

I tested hidden and invisible but this privacy setting was set to ‘blocked’ the whole time

Changing it to ‘allow’ fixed my issues and made multiplayer options clickable

(Restarting might be necessary after making changes)

I logged into xbox through website and changed my privacy settings from me only to Friends.
It worked for me I now have multiplayer

I think I have the solution for xbox players. You need xbox game pass to play multiplayer live. Dont ask me why I just asked one of my friends. And googled it and it agreed to what my friend said.

• I have a similar problem, only that in my own case the multiplayer is not greyed out. But even with the live player activation, I don’t see any other flyer in the sim. They however appear only in the world map. I have really been struggling with this.
