Many many thanks !! Had tried the first but not the second , it now seems to be OK. Cheers.
Hi,
I have almost exactly the same problem. Maybe no coincidence that I too have a box version bought last year. I also had a big problem with one of the huge updates half a year ago. It was fixed after 4 hours of work online remote connection by an MS technician. Since then I introduced a daily routine: 1. open MS store and get updates 2. open xbox app 3. start msdfs2020 from xbox.
Everything worked perfectly until Sunday, then all of a sudden the shortcut icons were gone! Xbox doesn’t show the sim any more, MS store tells me I have bought it and can install. Of course, this is a terrible option - what with almost 200GC updates after new installation and posiible errors…
I have written to developers at support@flightsimulator.zendesk.com and hope for an answer.
Will let you know when I get something and please let me know here if you find a solution.
P.S. my problem is a little different from yours because I cannot even click on any icon to start the game, all are gone.
However, in both cases it seems that the application doesn’t find the license rights.
Hi there, I noticed on one of yor other posts (to which I can’t reply for some reason) that you also now have the core content in C:XboxGames. Are you by any chance using GEForce Experience ? I am and it can’t find the game any more no matter how many different locations I ask it to scan.
I’m not using Experience, no, but I am using Razer Synapse, which is similar in allowing me to link to the .exe for making automatic peripheral and system “profile” changes when launching various applications.
Prior to this new install location I couldn’t “see” the .exe at all, as it was completely buried in that directory that, even when you attempt to gain access to, is heavily restricted.
Now, I can see the .exe, but when I point to it, it still gives me a message that I don’t have access to it.
I’ve just kind of given up on it. I’d rather be flying than playing fight the computer.
As an aside, I’m an old school computer user, who learned on mainframes and teletypes as a boy. I really loathe this whole “protect you from yourself” way of structuring the file system of the modern OS.
Thanks, used to be fine before this last update - content was indeed going to a restricted folder but there was a way to reach the executable by getting its address from GE Force Experience, copying it in the file explorer and you would get it. This is how I would go into its properties and disable full screen optimizations to improve performance. Now its the reverse ! I can go to the executable easily (not hidden or restricted anymore) but it can’t be found by GE Force Experience. Go figure … What makes me worry is that we do not get consistent errors and bugs, but a varietty. But I will agree with you, I should be worrying less about GEFE and fly more. After all the sim is way better than when I first tried it in 1989 . Cheers.
I had issue MSFS unable to launch yesterday (Windows 11). What I did to recover:
- Uninstall MSFS from Xbox App (left the install folder intact)
- Reinstall from Xbox App
- Point install directory to last good MSFS folder
- Downloaded 4.3GB update
