Its safe to say Grravel can haul a good amount of Gravel…maybe enough to build a gravel bar?
GotGravels Savage Grravel Gravel Bar Graveling Service
Anyway if you want to just have a chat about the Savage Grravel or Carbon, why not join me in the skies? Just go to my Discord server, easy enough to find me flying or book me for a trip somewhere.
Since we’re on this topic, you may also check out a recent 1 hour long interview I had with The Boarding Area guys in which we discuss both Grravel and Carbon and many other things related in great detail.
I recommend listening! Very fun listen in the car ride!
Thanks GotGravel for this beast.
I really like it for the steep slope landing Parorng shows. I did his LS60 “airfield” in one go.
For people who just downloaded this and like to fly damage on and gyro/rudder assists off, you’ll love the landing, it’s so smooth.. This plane flies like a slow response Kitfox but it needs some more space on takeoffs and landings. Do NOT give it full throttle on takeoffs, the gyro will send it anywhere except up. Gently increase throttle, elevator up to prevent the tail wheel from lifting. Rudder walk gently (e.g. once right, twice left), elevator up.. it won’t stall, just take back elevator and flaps.
Grravel “Study Level” update v125 coming next week!
Another HUGE list of improvements, this time mostly electrical / lighting. Which includes…finally…a much less bright radio and transponder. Gosh those things were torchlights!
There is also a real handbrake now (using the previous choke), and…you can deice the windshield with the cabin heat lever!
All lights are now 100% custom, which gave me much freedom to get everyone of them just right. The landing light now is actually usable at night which a decent range as well as a wide-beam for off-road night bushing. There is also a new “Torch” switch, which activates a bright rear-ward facing landing light (similar to what Draco had)…great for group flights so you can follow the leader.
Subtle lens-flares complement the new lighting system. Keyword here is “subtle” not “lens flare”. This is about realism and authenticity not a lightshow aye?
With all these changes now implemented I believe I finally can say that our bird is actually a Study Level aircraft.
The same changes are coming to the Savage Carbon next week as well.
Full change log:
Systems
DONE - Choke changed to a parking brake
DONE - Cabin Heat defrosts windshield
DONE - Toe brake effectiveness scaled down from 1.5 to 1.4
DONE - Overspeed beeper
Lights
DONE - Brighter, wider and further landinglight > SunSpot 36-4313 LED Landing Light 14V / 95W
DONE - Added the Torch aka “Draco” spot light (previously the inop v12 switch)
DONE - Added twin forward-facing strobe lights
DONE - Decreased brightness of the two avionics displays by a factor of 8
DONE - Master warning light now simply indicates Electrical On
DONE - Added subtle lens flares
DONE - Added custom cockpit spot lights (very dim) for NVFR
DONE - Customized all other lighting
Aerodynamics
DONE - More effect of controls at lower speeds, adjusted at all speeds for more aerodynamic accuracy
DONE - Less sensitive elevator trim
Id be willing to say this is the FIRST study level aircraft for this sim
yay, you doing a fab job !!!
Excellent!
Result of more SDK available or ultra fine tuning off ‘old’ SDK?
TG
From the part I developed and tested on it was some XML edits with minimal use from the SDK as it’s literally hot garbage right now…grravel is gonna have this thing packed with updates when the sdk is developed more! To answer your question: most of it was very fine tuning of the old SDK I believe but I only helped add 1 part so gravel can extend on my answer.
SAVAGE GRRAVEL v1.2.4
Finally, with these changes, I can confidently say that Grravel has reached Study Level performance!

You’ll find Grravel in your hangar all the way to the right near the default MSFS Savage Cub.
THE TORCH
The “Torch” is a unique rearward facing landing light, similar to what was installed on Draco. When turned on (there is a switch in the cockpit), it will be easy for others to spot you from behind. Great if you are a team lead for a group flight!

Great job on the plane, it’s a ton of fun to fly. I’ve started doing weekly group flights with it with a FB bush flying group, it’s always a good time.
I think I saw you off in the distance when I was flying around southern England last night - looked like you must have been sitting on the ground near Brighton or somewhere.
One thing I’ve seen mentioned about the aircraft model is that large tundra tires like this has don’t have treads. Is that something that will be changed in a future update? (It actually doesn’t bother me that this has treads, just wondering)
This aircraft is superb I really like flying it. Its been great fun flying to and landing on and taking off from glaciers in the Swiss Alps ![]()
Thanks guys! Yes I was in southern England testing for a bit ![]()
The treads…correct, ABs don’t have them. The tires you see now are actually from the original Savage Cub but enlarged to 29/35" depending on Carbon/Grravel, and moved outward a bit as well.
I’ve just been doing vertical takeoffs and landings on Out Skerries and it’s a blast in the Savage Grravel.
With live weather at the moment, there’s a 24kts crosswind, which makes it just about perfect for dropping onto the tarmac vertically and very gently. It’s probably easier than a more traditional landing.
I love this aircraft.
Edit: Oh, and I’d forgotten this aircraft was amphibious too, as I was also able to drop it into one of the bays, next to a fishing boat, and then take off again. Fresh cod anyone? ![]()
Glad to see you’re no more a school bus driver and welcome to the dark side of real pilots !
