VR controllers: please let us tilt the controller to move/tilt the joystick

I’d be interested. Does it have any dependencies? e.g. particular headset or XR runtime?

Thanks

Would definitely be interested!

I think that if you have an HMD that runs STEAMVR, Steam VR Wheel will work too.
I was able to use Steam VR Wheel with HP REVERB, which I used previously, if I started it via STEAMVR.
For performance reasons, it didn’t work if I started it directly with OpenXR.

I have almost no knowledge of Python or programming, but I’m using the Steam VR Wheel’s _joystick.py with a few modifications to the parts that pass the sensitivity and controller attitude to vJoy.
If you’d like to give it a try,
I’ve forked it from mdovgialo/steam-vr-wheel on github.
Unzip the downloaded steam-vr-wheel-2.5.4a.zip and
replace it with the original _joystick.py, or rewrite the code inside to do the same.
It’s best to first check that the original steam-vr-wheel-2.5.4a works.

Do you have the link please? I will try to take a look next week!

Install vJoy in the README and
unzip steam-vr-wheel-2.5.4a.zip from mdovgialo/steam-vr-wheel releases.
Run the joystick mode .bat file in the folder to check if it works.
Unzip Fork kenbou1911 steam-vr-wheelsteam-vr-wheel-master .zip and drag and drop _joystick.py inside to \steam-vr-wheel-2.5.4a\steam_vr_wheel_dist\steam_vr_wheel.
To start, run the same joystick mode .bat file.

The controller grip buttons toggle left and right controller input independently on and off.

I can’t get even the basic Steam VR wheel going (and I never have tbh - I tried it a few times over the last few years but it’s never worked for me) so I haven’t tried your mod either.
Thanks for your efforts.
I’ve been working on an alternative myself which I may post if I get time. Quest only in my case.

I also switched from Reverb to PicoN3L, and steam-vr-wheel stopped working, but recently it started working again.
The things I can think of are:

  1. Reinstalled vJoy and made sure to only use device:1.
  2. Unchecked all of the Force FeedBack checkboxes in vJoy.
  3. Changed the selection of vJoy’s POV HAT Switch to 4 Directions and then back.
  4. Excluded folders with anti-virus software.
Try making it the preferred device in Windows joystick settings.
  5. Installed Unity.
    Etc.
I don’t know what change caused this.
