Will try. Thanks
Did not solve the freezes issues. It could have been the recent updates.
You did that IRL?
I salute you (civvie here, and I know we donāt salute .mil) but stillā¦
The deck of an aircraft carrier is an amazing place.
I have a few days till I make a final decision, I bought an 4070 super having in mind to upgrade within 30 days period micro center offers , .. Iām planning to get to the 4080 super or Rx 7900 , but before that I want to try the 4070 ti super since it has 4 more vram like the 4080 super , but the Rxā¦has 24 , letās see where I ended up to , I need those extra vram for future proof now that Iām making a 3 to 5 years investment
I have used Asus Dual Radeon RX 7900 XTX two weeks now. Very satisfied, no stuttering anymore, very fluent experience. CPU 5800X3D, 64 GB RAM, HP Reverb G2 (24H2 update clocked). AMD driver 24.20.01.02, Hyper-RX enbled, default tuning.
Iām holding off upgrading my 3090 Ti 24GB for a couple of reasons:
- I donāt do VR yet, but I probably will.
- I insist on 4K, and in 2D the 3090 Ti is doing quite well.
- I donāt know how FS2024 will implement ray tracing. If itās extensive (which I doubt) then Iāll need to upgrade, for sure. If itās limited, then I may not need to.
I really donāt want to spend +/-$1000 on a new GPU if I donāt have to.
But if I do see the need, I want to get the best GPU I can afford.
I agree with the above post that bemoans nVidia for not including 24GB VRAM on the original 4080. Someone in a YouTube video opined that it was because they wanted to keep AI render farmers away from the consumer line.
Iām not buying that argument.
If the 7900XTX can handle a limited Ray Tracing instruction set well enough, Iāll take a hard look at it. I hate to give up DLSS thoughā¦
Honestly, if by some miracle nVidia releases a 4080 Ti Super w/24GB for </=$800, Iāll buy it on release. Or, if by an even bigger miracle they release the 5080 w/24GB VRAM for <$1000, Iām all over it.
Might be more important with sims like msfs2020 to have the best cpu you can get. I upgraded my i99900k/rtx3090/z390mb PC to a newer PC with i913900k/rtx4090/z790mb almost 2 years ago and kinda think that upgrading the cpu and mb had the biggest performance improvement. I sold my older PC so I cannāt confirm this.
I just built a new system around a 7950X3D on an X670E board w/64GB DDR5-6400/CL32, so I think Iām good there.
Ya, you should be very good with that mate imho. If I were you Iād probably stick with your rtx3090ti for now and maybe look at how well the next gen Nvidia rtx5090ās work out, as well as the upcoming msfs2024.
Iām an Intel fanboy so Iāll probably hold off upgrading my current PC until 15th gen Intel i9 15900k and rtx5090 are available and user reviewed. Cheers.
Sounds good. Youād maybe benefit a little by upgrading your cpu to a 7800x3d or better. Maybe only about a 10% improvement so might not be worth it. Up to you I guess.
In VR, it is still almost full time GPU limited, so no problem. 7800X3D doesnāt help until it is more CPU (main thread) limited. I use medium/high settings in sim.
I think most of us with high end PCās are mainly CPU limited with msfs2020 because itās so poorly multi-thread optimized. Maybe things will improve with msfs2024. Time will tell I guess.
I just built a computer with this specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core Processor 4.70 GHz
DDR5 32,0 GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB
I can play on highest quality without VR, but when I enter VR, my FPS drops to 6 fps while Im on the ground in an ATR 72-600. And this is with quite low settings. (In training with cesna, it has around 30 FPS)
Im checking the status of my components, and GPU RAM is maxed out. My processor runs at 30% load.
Is there anyway to get around this high VRAM usage or do I need to buy a new GPU ?
8GB VRAM isnāt enough, unfortunately.
To reduce Vram usage, you would have to make drastic changes in the NVIDIA Control Panel and MSFS settings. After these changes, MSFS would look like a game from the year 2000 and thatās probably not what you want, right?
Start saving up for a new graphics card, such as the RTX 4080.
Actually, I came across a youtube video an hour ago and tried it. VRAM is still maxed out, but that do not affect preformance. I can now run the game with high resolution and pretty OK settings.
Im now running at 70FPS when I train in Hesadona, and around 40 FPS in ATR 72-600 flying over Stockholm. Well, details is not where I want it, ofcourse, but still. I can fly with OK graphics, but not details.
Here is the youtube I found.
I can ask, what card do you recommend? Most bang for the buck ?
FS24 will support a limited ray-tracing ability, and more may be added down the road. nVidia has the best RT capabilities, and DLSS.
As such, if I was looking to replace my 3090 Ti (which I will some dayā¦) Iād get a 4070 Ti Super (16GB VRAM) if I was somewhat budget-driven, and a 4080 Super (16GB VRAM) if I could spend another couple hundred dollars.
The AMD 7900XTX has 24GB VRAM, but I think 16GB is enough.
Itās a good card that competes in some ways with the 4080 Super.
Iām an nVidia guy, though.
Unless you are focused on 4K VR, the 4090 doesnāt make a lot of sense, unless money is no object.
From my experience it does. I have two PCs myself one with a 4080 Super and one with a 4090. With both PCs I run monitors that are 2560x1440p. At times I run close out of VRAM with the 4080 Super.
How many monitors?
I have a 3090 Ti (4K main monitor, 2K secondary) and 12-13GB VRAM is the most Iāve ever seen.
