You’re welcome. Enjoy.

Hi, I read this post but I did not see how you resolved the issue about not having the openXR file under the registry. How were you able to find/create this file?

Thanks!

Turn on Beta for Oculus Home, there’s actually screen shots up a few posts above.. That’s how you get the files.

KrS, thank you for the response. I have already turned on the Beta and the Public Test Channel tab and downloaded those 10 updates to version 24.0.0.42.393. I still do not have that openXR file and have been unable to switch to VR mode in the game. My Oculus quest 2 is connected and the oculus app is open. I can do virtual desktop and see my screen through the goggles, but have been unable to switch to VR mode in the MSFS game. I go to the options tab and are unable to engage VR mode or even change the hot keys to activate the mode.

Thank you for the continued help.

Exactly same problem here I am unable to run in Vr. Only have VD. I can only see my big flat screen but cannot split the screens see see everything in VR.
I updated the software to version 24, checked the link everything is working fine I have the betas, just cannot switch to virtual reality mode no matter how hard I try

I’ve been trying for days, I got it to work on day one twice, but after two small flights I just won’t switch to Vreality anymore I even manually typed the registry link, rebooted computer, everything and nothing.

Thanks for anybody who can help. I have the oculus quest 2.

Dadasuper: Update: I went back into the Oculus app and I turned off the Public Test Channel Tab. It then initiated a download and re-downloaded the previous version 23. I then restarted my computer and the quest 2. I then re-clicked the Beta and Public Test Channel tab again and initiated the download again. It downloaded and I clicked update and am back to version 24. I checked the registry editor and low and behold, openXR is now present unlike before. I restarted my computer and the quest 2 again and booted up MSFS. I am now able to switch between desktop mode and the VR mode. I go into virtual desktop and can see my monitor and the MSFS game and I can switch over to VR mode. My only problem now is when I switch into VR mode, I lose sound. I am now working on resolving this but hopefully you can do what I just did and get openXR to show up.

I know I’m late but I see you made out, check your sound settings when it goes into VR sometime the sound will switch over to headphones. That’s what happened to me a few times.

Have you got your VR to work?

You were correct, my windows sound was set to my headphones in the taskbar. Simple change to (Headphones Oculus Virtual Audio Device) did the trick. I am up and running… well… flying!

Thanks for the input AlienMaverick, will try that. Just one question: you said “ openXR is now present unlike before” how can you tell? By looking at the registry? Or how?

Glad you’re up and running Alien!

Tried that and nothing, still no switching to VR and sometimes, just sometimes crashes and says “Thread stoped at device driver” what ever that is. Thanks any way. Maybe in a future update.

My oculus quest 2 is updated to latest update. And still crashes sometimes the computer. Any way, when it does not crashes it, cannot switch to VR more. Only stay in Virtual Desktop.

Yes dadasuper, I could see openXR in the registry editor after I switched back to version 23 and then reinstalled version 24. Once back on version 24 is when it showed up in the editor. Not sure why it did not show up the first time. I did not have to do anything else though thankfully in that editor. I also held in the side button the on quest 2 and chose to restart it as well as my PC after the downloads. Best of luck!

Thanks. Will keep trying.

I cannot locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1 in my registry !!
Under Khronos I can only find a folder named Vulcan. Open XR does not exist!!

Thanks, sorted this out using earlier posts. Amazing support

Thank you very much for your help. Solved many days of useless efforts for me.
Do you also happen to have medical knowledge in treating corona virus too, by any chance? It world be quite appreciated here in Italy…
Thank you again
