W11 - improved fps?

Sorry everyone for starting such a strong debate. I will just stick with the proper way with Microsoft stating to get the tpm module. Thanks everyone!

Edit: spelling

Thanks for the info. I have the Asus Z590-E board I’ve looked everywhere in bios for any kind of TPM tile I don’t see none. I have a secure boot, but even that looks tricky as it says some like auto or some other choice, plus if I want to do anything I have to clear my secure boot first. So I’m lost as to what to do. Thanks for your info.

I just checked your boards manual, and it does have a TPM header.

I just found one for $10. I have the Asus z590-E. I would put the link but I don’t know if that is alright.

I found a thread that discussed this. They think this is the one you need.

Note that the key pin is on a corner.

Are all the apps and tools that win10 runs available with the win11 OS. Maybe less programs running in background which take up fps. I thought i read a few things weren’t yet developed to work with win 11 yet.

It’s under Advanced/PCH-CW Configuration I believe.

Has to be in there, I had it on a z390.

Any rate, I did buy a module just because, slapped it in and installed 11.

Ran the game, crash, backed off a very heavy OC and bingo, runs great.

FPS are locked at 30, high, bloom and lens correct off … and there’s SMOKE, the world burns!

What you guys do for (maybe) 5fps !?!!

That can be the difference between better performance and ■■■■, 5 fps for me at full 4k on an OC’d rtx2070 would make a huge difference get me upto 40fps. or bit of less main thread render timing would reduce any stutters.

if people are comparing a clean fresh W11 install to an old clogged up W10 install it’s not going to be a clean comparison. A clean W10 install might do just as well.

Not saying W11 won’t have any performance benefit, but I also think that the single positive report saying they ‘think’ they might have gotten 5 fps increase without any background, or comparable benchmarks ran and reported isn’t anything to base a decision on, especially if the box you consider installing it on is the only PC you have.

It’s only an observation. What momentous “decision” are you talking about?

The decision to install a beta OS on your main PC.

Let’s say the sim works now, but on the next Sim Update a new update for Win10 drops which is required, thus making W11 not run the sim anymore (or any other programs you might need on a day to day basis).

I’m just warning people who might consider installing a beta OS on their only PC because someone reported they might have gotten 5 fps more.

Hey that will work for now! If I could albeit I don’t drink I would buy you a beer.

And you’re the beta Police, protecting the unsuspecting simmers…

I have a question for the few that updated to windows 11. Do you have to be in the dev builds to get it. I’m in the beta builds and I don’t have the option of downloading it yet. Thank you for the help.

I believe that’s the case. I heard the Beta will be available sometime in July.

Thanks! I thought that was the case.

On my Acer MB, it’s called “TPP”…
