Agree with the comments here. I have fond memories of the MAAM DC 3 in FSX and FS 2004, The Caravelle jet from the 1960’s too. Would love to see these in MSFS 2020. Not forgetting the classic British Jets BAE 1-11, Trident, and the VC 10. One can hope and dream
What I really would like to see in the sim is the Focke Wolff Condor. A late 1930s four engine airliner that could make the trip from Germany to New York non stop. Wonderful sleek lines. Lufthansa ordered a lot of them and the Danish Airline splashed out on two with great international ambitions. However, Hitler’s rearmament and war got in the way and the Condor was converted to a marine patrol aircraft, quite ill suited to the role though.
Over the last two decades a restoration project has been underway taking a pile of scrap from the bottom of the sea and returning it to a restored airliner. It will soon be displayed at Tempelhof in Berlin.
The vintage era of aviation is not exactly my area of expertise, the only thing I know about this era is the Wright Flyer, there are clouded memories of a Red Baron Tridecker and the Hindenburgh Zeppelin, and some years later came the Cessna 172 (and the Boeings)
If Flysimware had not made the absolute awesome Cessna 414 I would still wish for the Cessna 421 Golden Eagle from 1965.
One of the best classic airplanes already available is the PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster.
Don’t forget that in November we will be getting the Douglas DC3 and the DeHavilland DHC2 Beaver for free from Asobo as part of the 40th anniversary edition…
Just glad to hear you are back in the game. You only have one twin in your FSX inventory, go ahead and get that out of your way for MSFS.
In all seriousness Redwings is working on a mod for MSFS called MSFS 1935, so vintage aircraft will certainly be in demand from 1935 and earlier to give an authentic flair to that era, and I plan on getting that mod and flying radio and light navigation.

I had contacted GAS by email and they responded it was very unlikely they would create new content for MSFS, or even port over their FSX content. But am I to understand by reading posts here that they may have had second thoughts? In my email I told them there was good potential for producing income by creating MSFS “Golden Age” content, so maybe they have thought that over. One thing was clearly communicated in their response – they are definately not fans of Marketplace or this forum!
I hope so. I have a few of their planes for FSX and I love the vintage radials.
GAS should be releasing their Navy Works N3N very soon for FSX / P3D and then possibly take some time to consider next moves. Personally, I hope they will decide to work up a new MSFS project but only time will tell. They already have an established outlet and processes for their products, and we all know MSFS requires a monumental commitment from developers in time and effort - especially at the outset.
I know that for GAS - it isn’t the money - far from it. It is the love of that era of aviation and wanting to bring those classics to the flight sim community. In here that word is lost on many newcomers to flight sim - those whose introduction to flight sim was with MSFS2020.
But it IS a community with hundreds of other forums around the world, and many old scrubs like me who have enjoyed being a part of it. Some contribute with sim content like aircraft, utilities, scenery - others with repaints and still others by offering support in these forums on hardware, PC file manipulation and OS tweaks, and general aviation knowledge (when they have it) that defines what a community IS. Believe me when I tell you - THAT is who Golden Age Simulations works for - the community. And that is why the stuff that went on in here regarding the Sportwing was so poisonous.
I sure would love for them to reconsider MSFS - but I also wouldn’t mind seeing some effort from a few on these boards to learn about the community OUTSIDE of this forum, instead of just lighting their flamethrowers.
For those not familiar with the Navy Works N3N - here is the float equipped version that GAS will be releasing to FSX P3D, along with the standard ‘wheeled’ or land version - just scroll around in the link provided to see all of the work done to date

I loved to fly my Bücker 181 since 30 years now.
Would be nice to have it in MSFS too.
(The Bücker 181 was a primary trainer of the German Lufwaffe during WW II )
Bye , walter
Well said. Especially the “community” part. And I think there are many aviation history buffs here who would be grateful to “fly” any of the “oldies but goodies”!
Regarding the N3N the WAAAM museum I’m always referencing has one. They have a great video of flying it off the Columbia River playing next to the plane. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be on the internet anywhere.
Here is a picture of my good friend WWII Hellcat pilot Jack Dunn standing next to it. The N3N’s were built from recycled aluminum from blimps!
Regarding “community” I find it interesting that there are so many “SIGs” (Special Interest Groups) related to MSFS. These include the following who predominantly fly: Airliners, War Birds, Bush Planes, Modern Civilian, Antique, Vintage, Classic, Helicopters, Gliders, Business, and more. I would like to see Asobo create “channels” on this forum to facilitate these SIGs. Some of these SIGS don’t know the others exist. Pursuant to “community” having SIG channels would facilitate SIG related help, news, discussion, development, and more.
I think that would create a lot more work for the forum moderators and the dissemination of information might not be helped by such segregation. Aside from that there are whole forums dedicated to each of those 'SIG’s already. Some that are nearly exclusively about airliners, others about warbirds, and still others about GA powered flight, and some just about soaring.
Acknowledging that there are special interests among the flight sim community is already a thing - but maybe adding sticky posts to the General Discussion page (pinned at the top of that page) - one for each of the following : Airliners, GA fixed wing, Helicopters, Gliders, Warbirds might be a good idea
Surely the various special interest groups already have their own presence on the web outside of this forum? I can think of several that are dedicated to their own niche.
Is there a forum for aircraft prior to 1950?
No. The internet didn’t exist back then.
(Exits)
ow, my sides…
Prior to 1950 you would pop out to the local aero club bar and grab a beer and ask around.
Talking about the golden age…
Why not include the very first flying machine built and flew by a kiwi…
I seem to recall that there was a European, maybe German or Italian who developed a viable aircraft a few years before the Write brothers, but the engine was too heavy and the plane crashed in a lake (I think), killing the developer.
Please correct me if my facts are not quiet right.
