WASM Aircraft Failure (Xbox)

Normally the beta would be tested internally using only 1st party default (vanilla build). So it’s perhaps not surprising that this happened and they weren’t aware of it. But that’s why we do beta testing. Now it’s up to them to sort it

But otherwise this build seems really good. Schiphol by Feel There to Heathrow by inibuilds on the beta in the A20N v2 was great - on the public build such a flight wouldn’t be the best idea unless you hate runway lights and love a slideshow. Makes me wonder if Edinburgh II by Pyregeegeegee and Corfu by FlyTampa would work

Xbox series X

WASM on the v2 definitely feels a little unstable. Twice had the MCDU freeze while setting up a flight

Also, fuelling up doesn’t always work. Not sure what’s causing this

If it wasn’t for 2024 not being usable with the Xbox controller, I’d say you’re making a mistake by not jumping in. As a simulation, it’s superior to 2020 by a long shot.
It even allows downloading stuff now. If they fix this, or you use a mouse, the only possible reason to stick with 2020 is a couple of very specific add-ons (namely, PMDG planes), which are coming to 2024 anyway.

That said, 2024 cannot be used with an Xbox controller, so there’s that :frowning:

This thread is really about the WASM failure that’s affecting the beta.
A lot of thied party aircraft use WASM so it is a big issue for users who have a big hangar of favourite add ons - they are not just limited to the PMDG aircraft.

And actually if you fly any complicated aircraft that use WASM at all on the Xbox, you would know that in general, so far, you get higher LOD and better smoothness using MSFS2020 than you do with MSFS2024. Also you get a uniformly good experience with MSFS2020 - my experience with 2024 is that sometimes the servers don’t play well.

So in fact the lack of WASM in this MSFS 2020 beta is a major shortcoming as many Xbox users won’t participate in the beta unless they know they can fly their add ons - it’s too much to lose out on to participate in a beta.

That’s the thing, and I should have been clearer in my message. My experience directly contradicts your claim. Every WASM airplane I’ve used works better and with smoother performance on 2024 in my system.
I’ve actually never understood why folks are so adamant in claiming that 2020 is a better performance, since all the airliners I use -PMDG, Ini which are all WASM- were terrible* on 2020 - blackouts, CTD on larger airports or PG scenery, the works.
Even if only after SU1, 2024 has actually solved these issues for me. SU3’s been even better.

Leaning a bit off-topic, folks. This wasn’t meant to be a debate about which sim has better performance, just bringing the WASM failure issue to the dev’s attention in 2020’s SU16 beta. We need this fixed ASAP so that we can begin properly testing the beta, and then we can start judging performance.

How funny it is to see how inevitably after an update something always breaks. This problem with wasm planes was also there in the past and was a nightmare. It needs to be fixed now so we can test the beta honestly.

Agreed - a lot of valuable time has been wasted on the start of this beta as Xbox users cannot carry out proper testing if they did enrol and many others of us are holding back on starting until WASM is working.

A poor start - fix needed ASAP!

Still no WASM fix? This is quite disappointing however I have to say this beta with WASM to one side, is really good! Best it’s been for ages. The ground texture resolution, draw distance, LOD and bing maps improvement are absolutely brilliant for me I’d say. Usually a PMDG lad but been enjoying inibuilds V2 Neo. There’s a workaround for cockpit lights too if anyone is interested as they haven’t worked for ages courtesy of another member.

Same here, I was really impressed with the LOD, and draw distance. Hoping they fix the WASM aircraft soon though. Also seemed to have issues with the big cracks on runways. I ultimately backed out of the beta, but excited for what may possibly come.

At now V2 neo seems ,to me, to be the only with advanced avionic simulation to works nice without fps dropping in the cockpit, the others models Boeing 747 or 787 are affected to fps drops , I didn’t tried every planes , we’re talking about vanilla game to test obviously

Looks like is fixed now (have not personally tried)

Well back on beta now since WASM is back. Flew a few flights in 777 and a320, and while its not as great as it was regarding draw and LOD, its much improved easily over SU15. Kind of hard to describe, but like at 5000 feet on approach, you have about 7-8 miles of pretty detailed terrain and builings that are 3D rendered. The stuff beyond that hasnt quite rendered yet, seems to look better than before, just a better baseline, seems to pop a bit more and blend in better with the terrain that has rendered. The planes just seem to operate and move a bit smoother in my opinion. No issues with cracks or stutters. Wasnt in high traffic areas though.

Corresponds exactly to my first impressions too - Aerosoft CRJ 700 last evening. More testing needed but like you, positive first impressions…

Yes , we got 3 gb patch, and now my PMDG 737 works, we got WASM, …too good to be real,

Hi all,

We’re glad to here that this issue has been resolved for you all with the latest v1.39.2.0 Beta build.

Hello, is fixing the 787/747 avionics to run on Xbox in the plans for this update?
