Ah, I remember that now, once the video began. I don’t personally want to edit my registry to get another voice, and it’s still extremely limited compared to PF3, which includes a myriad of voices, and in most cases, voices with an accent that at least suggests the area where you are flying. I’ll just stay with PF3, but everyone has his or her own thing.
I did it and I can say it works perfectly. I have now 15 different ATC controller voices!
Are they random at all, or do you choose who you talk to each segment of the flight?
You can chose which segment should have which voice. But I prefer the random variant!
So you can just have it randomly choose between all the voices loaded? That’s a better option in my opinion, though still very limited compared to PF3.
Yes! I’m flying VFR because I do that also in my real life. And I think that P2A therefore is the best option. So if you use ELT (Enhanced Live Traffic), P2A and the Live ATC from web you are really near the real life! ELT simulates the life traffic even GA, Live ATC from the Web let you hear the original ATC chatting from this traffic and P2A is communicating with you (Also traffic alerts and TO holdings when there is a landing plane)
ELT looks interesting, though I think I’ll wait for a more finished product. PF3 also has the traffic alerts and holds, but sounds as if we are both happy with our respective solutions. Happy flying!
I improved the ELT and will work on it to make it better. The actual Version works very good - only the teleporting of grounded planes are a little annoying - but that will be also fixed in future!. So try it and enjoy it!
The thing I didn’t and still don’t like about Pilot2ATC:
The voices are robotic.
It follows your flight plan if you use simbrief so no assigning SID STAR. There is an option to have it assign those.
You’re never stepped down for descent. So you will always be told “cleared for descent VIA STAR” and then it’s on you to get yourself down in enough time and to each constraint…
When I used it it didn’t nothing with AI traffic. So you would randomly be told to hold position even though there was no other aircraft in your sim…
Fast forward to ProATC/SR:
Assigns runway, SID, STAR every time.
Voices are decent.
Has no concept of AI traffic at all. So you and another plane with just taxi into each other.
CONS:
Developer is known for abandoning project.
Support forum is run by a bunch of power hungry mods.
Every “issue” is always “pilot error” or will be “fixed” in next update. It’s been out for over 2 months and has yet to get an update…
You have to run makerunways with it. And even that doesn’t work 90% of the time. Especially if you use the inibuilds KLAX.
FSHud:
Voices are good
Constant updates
Injects and controls AI traffic.
CONS:
If using FSLTL with it, it’s constant ATC talking the entire flight (rather annoying)
Does not descend you. Tells you to contact them when you’re ready for descent…
Does not assign runway, SID, STAR.
It often tells you via a text to go direct to a waypoint that you’re already flying too but it says you’re going the wrong way.
Again when using FSLTL you might get planes flying but Nothing on the ground…
For P2A I think you didn’t use all the possibilities in the settings .and as a pro for P2A I can say that it developed continuously. I have 15 voices installed the most sound very naturally …
Is that for me? I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t have the settings completely correct. But every time I used it I was never stepped down which got rather annoying.
But I do know that could be realistic.
I got sometimes vectoring approaches from the controller. That is one of the settings you can make. All I can say is that all wrong advises I got from P2A ATC controllers could be fixed with the individual settings. And if there is anything really wrong in the programming I always contacted Dave the developer! He always reacts friendly and quickly. And if there was something to fix he did it in the next dev beta releases which you can find on his website!
Look here, maybe your problems would be fixed with the new Public Beta !
I can also thoroughly recommend P2ATC, Dave is extremely fast to respond to issues and support, he gives first class service, which is often missing from third party addons.
I also tweaked the voices and mine sound great, there is a guide somewhere.
I can also recommend Pilot2Atc. I just got it only a few days ago and its already amazing. Far better than default atc.
My question is. Is there a way to get it where I am stepped down on my descent? Instead of just being “cleared via STAR”?
Here in the Config you should set your choices:
So I have that setting checked but I also have the settings for “ATC assign SID” and “ATC assign STAR” would I not want those checked if I’m using simbrief?
And just to make sure with the ATC assigning approach will I actually be stepped down in decent?
My experience is that P2A is ignoring SID’s and STAR’s if you have it unchecked and ATC Assigns Approaches is checked. You can also check Randomize Approach Types to get surprised in your approaching. (I think I got also vectorized in my approaching’s)
Maybe you should also look in these settings:
The Altitude Change Lead Time is important because the assignments of changing the altitude will be repeated after this time. That could be very annoying…
I’m not sure if the controller will give you the order to decent for the approaching, but honestly you are the pilot and have the last responsibility therefore…
Last hint: Maybe Dave (the developer) can give you the best way to solve your problem! I’m pretty sure he will do so if you ask him!
The stock ATC is useless as we all know, I would like some recommendations on a plug-in or a stand-alone ATC addon to replace the stock one. No live chat since I don’t want the commitment and pressure, and it can interact with the MSFS live traffic, and most of all easy to install and use. If there are multiple voices thats a plus… Much appreciated…
