What good ATC product do you use?

That’s good to know, thanks… But I’ll stick with the default ATC… Hahaha

Fly using Unicom. Everyone is amateurs so many will have work/college/university. I think some have schedules so you can plan around it. There are regular planned event flights

But you can’t guarantee ATC, no.

I can also recommend this:

Is unicom like an offline ATC without a real person?

Unicom is a general communication line, so you can tell other fliers on VATSIM what you plan to do, “Entering left base to land at Runway Zero Seven” sort of stuff, like a party line.

IVAO might be worth a look as well. It’s almost non-existent in the UK, but on mainland Europe it’s popular. It’s pretty much the same thing.

This made me lol. Totally get it!

Thanks for the chuckle

My problem with VATSIM is the workload. Sometimes i just want to go for a 1 hour flight. With MSFS ATC i can spawn at the gate, load my flight plan, get my clearance and there we go. I’m not too much of a fan of going through charts for departure, taxi and arrival just to not hurt somebody’s feeling.

Another thing with MSFS ATC is that it’s clean English. I’m a German but when i hear a mix of a hard German accent and English it’s just a royal cringe.

The reason I prefer the default ATC is simply because I can let my AI co-pilot handle it so I don’t have to… Hahahah.

I’m interested in PF3. I use MCE a lot. Could you help with these questions please?

-Would you say PF3 is fairly easy to use once you get used to it?
-Can you load the flight plan created into the the Aircraft FMC?
-How does PF3 interact with MCE exactly - do they need to be connected somehow or do they just run alongside each other?
-I assume you can turn off the PF3 copilot voice so you can only here one reply from the MCE Copilot? I still havent found a way to turn the MSFS copilot voice off when MCE responds to MSFS stock ATC instructions :frowning:

Thanks would be good to know your thoughts…

I sucked it up and bought some IVONA. But I’m not sure if they are for sale anymore.

The Pilot2ATC support forum has some threads on additional voices. But none of them are easy to implement.

Ill sometimes delegate frequency changes and/or read-backs to the Co-Pilot in Pilot2ATC. Depending on the complexity of the plane I’m flying. I still have to make the initial calls.

Hi wieldy.

Yes PF3 is easy to use.
Not sure about the FMC, haven’t used one yet I’m enjoying flying the JPL Cessna 152 mod too much at the moment. Sorry.
PF3 and MCE run along side each other, you just start up each program and they connect automatically.
You can easily turn off the copilot in PF3 by selecting no pilot voice in the control panel of PF3.

Nobody does. You probably couldn’t make a bigger muck up than I did on my first VATSIM flight (from Carlisle, with a sympathetic ATC).

I would say that as long as you don’t learn somewhere busy and you’ve read up the basics - you don’t have to be word perfect or anything - the ATC will help you if you have the time. They won’t laugh at you, they’ve all “ATCed” for the first time as well.

Also VATSIM and others do training flights specially designed for beginners where the ATC involved know you are nervous.

Nerves go really quickly, take it from me.

Not to take this thread in another direction and off topic, but thank you for this! I am very new to the sim and so far have only been flying circuits and short jumps locally in the 152.

I just checked out this mod and installed it and did a quick circuit, I am loving it!!! Much more fun than the stock.

Great thanks mate. I’m going to give it a try. Watched a vid about it this pm and although voices are a bit robotic it seems like an improvement on the stock ATC.

Some of the voices are well done, some ARE a little robotic but I much prefer it to stock, at least not all of them are American lol

For me all I need is RC4. Been using it since 2008 as I’m sure many of you out there have, and it’s FREE!. My understanding is that the simconnect text function, ie. TEXT_TYPE_MENU needs to be in place. If so I’d really like them to implement it.
