7 miles from Charles De Gaulle airport, the ATC told me to ‘Climb and maintain 16,000ft’. What actually IS the point of having ATC in this sim at all? It never works and is only implemented - in my opinon at least - to make the sim sound fancy. I’ve had every iteration of this sim since the very first one in the early 80’s (I’m 64) and I just think that if third party developers can make add-ons that mimic real ATC, then why can’t the actually Devs of the sim do it? I spend money on planes in the marketplace, to support the hard work of the various Devs, and I’d like to see our support of this sim rewarded with - at the very least - an effort toward fixing this problem that is, by now, decades old.
Well, it’s over four years since I last posted in this thread.
And here we are, all those years and a new release later, and really ATC is as bad now as it was then, in fact in some ways worse.
Why on earth don’t Asobo sort it once and for all?
Probably because those third party companies have one job only, to create an improved ATC experience. Asobo don’t have that luxury, but may have a handful of people dedicated to that aspect of the sim. But given the level of progress on that since 2024’s release I have my doubts.
If I could reply with ‘on my behalf, forward my best regards to all involved’ I would do that and skip the filed flight plan.
In the mean time I create a flightplan and turn off ATC, minding my own business.
