Thunderstorms exist! They are relatively rare (like in real life in this season), but I finally flew through one in PNG. And I was surprised by the realism. There was a Cumulonimbus, rain just below, and even a lightning:
I have tried in real time with rain and storm and I have not been able to see any lightning.
I’ve tried in default time/storm, and only thunder is heard and white lights are seen, but I don’t see any lightning.
Can anyone visualize them, or am I the only one??.
Yeah, it’s still a problem. It was a few updates ago when we went from having lightning dancing between fluffy cumulous clouds to none at all. It’s broken and it doesn’t feel like anyone is listening.
I actually did see lightning and heard thunder the other day taking off in Brisbane. Haven’t seen it in so long I was starting to wonder myself. Live weather of course.
Yeah it was actually amazing because the clouds were quite low as I flew the departure by hand lighting right beside me and that rumble was glorious indeed. As we head into spring the rains are coming now.
What happened to lightning in live weather??? Why is it impossible to find it now??
One example: I’m in Tyler TX airport in a live storm that has a tremendous amount of lightning (IRL), but live weather is generating none. Why?
Could it be that a few updates back, it seemed everyone was complaining about too much lightning, or it’s too bright… or it happens in clear air, so Asobo decided to just get rid of it altogether? Does anyone know why?
I’m sure they’ll eventually get around and fix this, but it’s curious how there are only very few people mentioning it. Personally I haven’t seen lightning in almost a year now, and I’m mostly flying at night in high altitudes so it should be more apparent even at a distance.
Lightning in the SE US is Very common and happens in spring, summer, fall and winter with most precipitation events. Now there is absolutely NONE! anywhere, ever. that’s not realistic either.
Like I said, a couple people complained… and now it’s gone completely.
Currently sitting at an airport in Youngstown where the METAR is calling for Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain, currently rain no lightning/thunder at the moment. Live weather.
Lightning appears to have gone the way of icing or rainbows as in - There was too much effect so instead it has all but disappeared? I do fly alot (almost everyday) in various locations around the world and I haven’t seen any lighting, rainbows or icing for a month or more.
Surprisingly this is the only thread I can find on the subject. I went searching the globe for storms and the most you can find is heavy rains, even when storms are indicated in the in game METAR. For whatever reason the sim has lightning turned off for live weather or has constraints TOO tightly appliued now (whereas they were too loose before). The few people reporting lighting in live weather might want to double check their settings as the only way I can get lightning in the sim is to use the stormy weather preset. I had hopes that SU8 would bring lightning back, but seeing only 24 votes makes me think no one notices the problem at all.
