Sounds like you didn’t use the specific OCCT psu test.
And the menus will run your gpu at 100% if you let them … In options/ experimental there is a low power mode that prevents this, it does not affect in game performance
Ah, i was running the wrong test in occt lol. Not used it before. Was only the cpu test. Now running power test. Wow, cpu gets a lot hotter… now pushing 96C drawing 187W. Is this safe?
Bsod. After 3 minutes
It will be safe but not too long and don’t make a habit of it. Your hardware knows when to throttle down. I wouldn’t recommend it for those with 7xxx X3D cpus though
Give it time to cool and start her up, there should be a report
Where will i find the report?
just open OCCT
Opened it, it just pops up where it left off, but not running the test anymore. It was 3 minutes 7 seconds in, but just says no errors detected
Then I guess it passed … did you possibly catch what the BSOD said?
Im just searching to find the bsod log now
All i can find are generic responses that are along the lines of “windows stopped working due to a hardware fault”
and nothing in event viewer?
Only same generic things
I just realised, my ram oc was set back again. Should i run the test again now that it’s back to stock?
Then IMO it was likely the PSU detecting a variance in current however if you never push that hard I think you can look elsewhere.
Just found a program that’s supposed to analyse the bsod logs… its showing code 0x00000101 and saying it’s caused by driver ntiskrnl.exe?
Actually set your memory OC and test that with OCCT (not the psu test)
Im just running the windows memory diagnostics
The ram oc has passed every other test I’ve ever thrown at it though… and the system still froze with it disabled, at the msfs menu when it was downloading the very last world update. That’s why i enabled it again, as i assumed, can’t be the cause. Looks like this windows test is going to take some time. Ram is back at stock now. Assuming windows finds no error, i will try the psu test again.
If, with everything stock, it still fails the psu test, should i assume the psu is faulty?
It seems to push the cpu way beyond anything else I’ve ever tested.
Should be ok, I’m pretty sure the restart will have cleared it. I now suspect the freezes were because your memory OC wasn’t as stable as you thought it was.
