Will Asobo ever address and fix the stutters in this sim?

I don’t use the FBW mod (or even fly tubeliners for that matter) but currently maxed out I’m seeing “Limited by GPU”.

i9-10900KF / RTX 3070 / 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200 / 1440p

57 FPS right now in the 172 with the G1000.

216nm flight and I actually don’t notice any stutters.

Thats good when you see limited by gpu. If you see that on ground too you are well tuned and using the most of your system if you never go on red. That’s what i’ve learned from this  I have mostly the same system as you except the gpu. I have RTX 2080 S. I set my settings to30fps in GA to be able to use 4k. I think 4k looks so much better. Especially the photogrammetry.

Let’s hope for the best with dx12  Maybe they surprise us with that update  They asked if we lookig forward to it in the dev update! It can’t just be an implementation of it. I heard from release they was working on dx12 and if they has worked on it since then it can’t just be an implementation without function. In that case why have it released in a preview? Nobody has use of it anyway. Besides i’m pretty happy with it now tuned, now it only can get better i think. I looking forward to the weather updates the most actually

Why would we lie? I don’t suffer from any stutters either, so you might want to be more careful with the words you use. There is no valid reason to lie. It would be the same as saying that you are lying about them right? You probably wouldn’t like it either.

Before SU6 only high end users were using the UserCfg.opt hack to get above LOD 200 but now Asobo have made it possible in options there’s a lot of users suddenly think they need to be on 400

They also mentioned some rendering changes in SU6 near ground to be able to render the terrain faster because of faster aircraft did the terrain rendering not keeping up with how fast the aircraft moved that made the terrain look stuttery before even if it felt smoother overall. This i think needs more cpu power to render but is actually an improvement. Correct me if i’m wrong here. I didn’t need to tune down to 150 Terrain LOD before to have smooth flight. Something has actually changed in SU6 for me that i’m sure of. I have not complained one single time about performance before SU6. I have re-installed windows now too and that made it better. But i think it should have been better before SU6 too if i decided to re-install at that point too. The computer always runs better right after re-install of windows. I had my terrain LOD set at 200 before SU6 and after SU6, after SU6 i needed to turn it down to 150 to get it smooth.

After SU:5, albeit not a favourable update, I must confess I have a rather smooth, stutter free sim.

However my CPU usage never gets above 30% whereas GPU is almost always exploited at 95%.

I still believe, tho, it’s more important to have a smooth sim, I don’t focus much on fps count, as long as I am above 15 fps, my sim is pretty smooth, flyable, and enjoyable, even over hefty areas such as LAX , CHI, or NYC.

Almost everything now is pretty cool with SU:6, dev team has simply started to solve way more issues than they break.

I hope this is gonna continue with SU:7 next week.

Sim is in a good shape, just want it to keep going like that.

I agree with you. It’s many other things they need to focus on that are more important than some stutters here and there. This is a flight sim, not a fps counting sim  I want to help what i’ve learned from this bad tuning i had. I am realy happy with the smoothnes of the sim now when i know how to tune it properly. It is some things with photogrammetry trees they need to fix that makes the gpu real demanding and some scenery on those addon airports that causes our hardware to act strange. I can live with that though, now when i know what causes it i can fly somewhere else in the meantime they fix it

Been following this ‘Stutter Fest’ since last October. Have not been able to determine precisely what a ‘stutter’ is. I assume it refers to ‘jerkiness’ or ‘stop and start’ of the display. If so, I have not noticed it. Can someone post a video demonstrating it? Without the FPS counter on the screen. I have no use for that, my eyes and ears tell me all I need to know. Brought it up one time months ago out of curiosity. Not being sarcastic or snide, I really would like to see what stutters look like to those troubled by them.

@perrry i wonder, i see you fly in 4k, is it with dsr?
And if not, is your monitor is real 4k
Because if it is open dsr in graphics card controlpanel and set a higher resolution in user interface generals and set lower secondaryscale in usercfg.opt like 0.400000 or 0.600000 and in the ui again set renderscale to 3840 2160 or a little bit higher
You get something like this

I know it is a bit on the brightside because of hdr but it is all tune able in freestyle
The thing im trying to point at is with a fine resolution there is better management of colouring in the sim. I hope i express myself clear enough, but maybe you and ofcourse others can look into this

I use a 55” tv with 4k runnig with 4k in the sim. I have not tried set dsr. Will try it later  What kind of hardware are you using? I can say 4k is much better than 1080P thats for sure. Is DSR impacting GPU much?

@perrry
I use the sim on pc
It is a nice rig which bought last year december
x299 msi pro 10gb
Intell core i9 xgen 10900x cpu 20HT cores 30% usage
Corsair Liquid cooling icue 180
64gb corsair 2666 MHz ram
3090 msi suprim 24 Vram running 100% at +/- 73°c
Psu Corsair HX1000 watts
Also use a 4k beamer optoma z45

Ofcourse the sim will use more ram if lod is set higher or resolution is set higher, but not that much unless you scale up to 8k or higher with using upscale of secondary scale ( in usercfg.opt higher than 2.000000).
The terrain lod is more on Vram, while object lod is more on Ram so higher setting result automatic on higher usage.

I have noticed that if fullscreen is set above monitor 4k res, and secondaryscale in usercfg.opt is set below 1.000000 it works very nice in upscale renderscale, but if other way around like 2550 1440
In fullscreen and secondary scale above 1.000000 and renderscale 200 its is more demanding and will give some stutters while loading textures.

Personally i use higher terrain lod and use less objects lod ( for terrain around 6 up to 9+ and object i use max 5, depend on where flying) i fly mainly GA Cessna 172sp classic this because im not really a fan of the glasscockpit, but more of steamgauges.

Also noticed the difference in colours if change overall resolution setting, i fine tune colours in freestyle nvcp.

Thank you for an informative post. Will test those things and see my result. Want to max out my ram usage also if possible. I can totally agree with you on the colors. They are much better in high res in my opinion. Looks more clear and realistic.

I think for maxing out Ram usage, higher objectsLOD setting is an option for that.
But keep your balance

Good luck in your search
