But you can be happy if you’ve a mind to-o-o…
If you have to pull out of a fast dive you’re experiencing huge forces and you’re happy if you can grab your controls effectively with two hands. One hand over the other is not effective. I don’t know if that was the actual thought behind this design, but it certainly helps.
In reality I totally prefer central sticks. The movement is more natural and there is nothing in your way whatever you want to do in the cockpit. You can rest your arm on your leg and fly with two fingers.
In the sim I use what the plane has. I tried flying the A2A Mustang with my yoke when I got it and I didn’t like the feeling.
For me it feels weird to use a yoke in a plane that use stick, and the same with using a stick with a plane that has a yoke. I kinda ruins my immersion. So I always switch between yoke and stick depending on the plane i fly. But there is nothing wrong to use whatever you prefer:)
I have a top end Virpil joystick with a desk mount so I can center-mount it between my legs, for DCS/BMS. I love it! But when I got into MSFS I had the itch to simulate planes accurately, so that my hand/foot movement is as close to the real thing as I can get it at home. So now, I have a Honeycomb yoke and MFG Crosswind pedals. And a throttle quadrant on my right side, instead of using the HOTAS throttle on my left like a fighter. I can switch between fighter and civil setups easily enough. Expensive, yep. But I can afford it and it feels amazing to fly any type of aircraft I want.
If I only had room/money for one setup, I’d do HOTAS. It’s more universal.
