ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I am unable to install Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (Aviator Edition) via the Xbox App on PC (Windows 11). The installation consistently fails at 2%, presenting two error codes:

  • 0x80070006The handle is invalid
  • 0x87E00029Generic install failure

I am the only user and administrator on this machine. All Xbox services are running properly. This issue persists after extensive troubleshooting including PowerShell re-registration of the Microsoft Store and Gaming Services.

Yes — this is a fresh install attempt. No mods or add-ons are present.


FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time. The issue occurs consistently on each install attempt at exactly 2% progress.

  1. Open the Xbox App (also tried Microsoft Store directly).
  2. Begin installation of MSFS 2024 Aviator Edition.
  3. Installation fails at 2% with errors 0x80070006 and 0x87E00029.

  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD with >600GB free
  • No third-party antivirus, no overclocking, no GPO changes
  • Admin rights, no Group Policy or firewall interference

I have the same issue updating the MSFS2024… it started (after tenth of tries) and stopped at 4% with the same error code you got. No way to solve the issue up to now…
