The Boeing 787 is only one plane from default ones (that was also the only reason why I bought Deluxe edition of MSFS).
I’m so disappointed with this next beta release. I know it’s beta and this might happen, but the performance of this plane inside a cockpit is a joke from the very beginning of the SU16 beta.
I could see many comments in pervious survey about feeling like slow motion and it really feels like that.
For me it’s unplayable and I’m joining this beta only to try this plane.
Asobo, please take a look on this plane on yourself or ask Working Title to do so. I hope there will be no public release until this issue is solved (most probably it’s not the only one airliner that has problems with performance).
If anybody has similar issue, vote this comment.
For me takeoff is enough for this build.
Asobo, keep fingers crossed for you. You delivered many times, hope this time you will do some good work here as well.
Xbox Series X user.
The 747 very sadly suffers this same issue due to the WT avionics being unusually heavy on sim performance when there are plenty of equally and more complex avionics in other aircraft that work well
Saw there was a new build and downloaded the beta once again. Astronomically long loading time into the main menu, and then again into a flight. I’m talking 15-20 minutes of loading. Attempted to use an aircraft that was unusable in the last build, but perfectly smooth and stable in the SU15 public build (Black Square TBM), and found the sim to again degrade into a choppy slow-motion stuttering mess after about 5 minutes of setting up the aircraft. Tried the same in the FlightFX P180, with the exact same results. 5fps, 2 seconds stutters. Completely unusable. I have left the beta again, and will try again next time…
EXTREMELY disappointing considering how well these aircraft run in the public build. SU16 should be bringing the sim forward with better performance, not killing it altogether.
Not a very good build at all after testing tonight in the 777F. Budapest to Oslo, both add ons but neither is particularly heavy. I’m having constant micro stutters throughout the whole flight, especially when panning around the cockpit or changing camera views. Also I’m losing around 5 minutes of time because of the stutters. To top it all off, I got black avionics around 100NM from Oslo!
Navigating the world map has become very irritating too, it’s not smooth to navigate any more and has constant stutters too.
Not a great time for either SIM on beta at the moment.
Xbox series X, perfectly here, still no ctds, a320 v2 and pmdg 737 still works nice, smooth and nice inside cockpit, …787 still in slow motion inside, it seems like before new patch, I stay on su 16 cause of ctd on 15.
Agreed. Not a well optimised aircraft at all. Along with the 787. Strange considering it isn’t particularly well detailed when you compare it to other aircraft within the sim that run and perform really well. I include the Xbox here too as the PMDG performed exceptionally well.
I think there is much work to do when it comes to avionics in certain standard aircraft but in my experience, the a320 v2 works really well amd generally gives great results from and to add-on airports.
However, the draw-in happens really really late as in right in front of the aircraft!
I give an example at an airport with taxi-ways and runways. The details draws in when you’re over it! Not sure if this is visible from the picture.
After several hours on Beta: tile popping has been fixed almost everywhere (northern Italy, south Florida, Algiers, Monterrey, south Peru and Bolivia). LOD looks definitely improved. Menus are terribly laggy. Ground textures, especially in dense areas, are often blurred and half loaded. Loading times in dense areas are definitely too long.
Agree with all of the above. In addition, on this beta 3rd party EFBs from PMDG and Justflight have lost their moving map functionality both with Navigraph and without, just black screens. Some PMDG products on Xbox x have taken a noticeable framerate hit and stutters, 777-300ER and Avro RJ appear worst so far.
I did 2 flights with the PMDG 737, LGKR - LIEO yesterday and LIEO - LZIB today. Yesterday the performance was good - smooth, no time loss, no stuttering. Today it was good until the approach when it started stuttering and the landing was basically in slow motion. 737 was very good performance-wise in the last build so it seems like the new build is worse, but I will do more flying and see what happens…
What has happened to this beta? DEFINITELY going backwards. Started off so promising. The blurry ground textures and late draw-in is not acceptable considering how it was when the su16 was released.
Runway textures render a few metres away from the nose of the aircraft. External view is notably better in terms of visual quality of ground textures but switch to internal and the ground textures are blurry. This definitely was not the case in the first build. A320v2.
I am starting to believe that this beta will either take too long or will be just delayed. Does not look promising and the current live version is good as it is, at least for me.
I think the draw distance with LOD has improved but the blurry ground textures are killing me! The first build of this beta was a really impressive but has definitely gone backwards.
I hope they delay this thing until it’s much better.
Aren’t subsequent betas in general supposed to get better? At least this has been my experience for other software betas. Not to mention the first beta didn’t even work with WASM.
The current public build is the only saving grace for us on Xbox IMHO — at least for those of us using more complex aircraft and add-ons. I would also argue in general but…
Please, Microsoft! If you are listening, please do not ruin 2020 for those of us on Xbox.
Hi, no, not necessarily; nor not at all for MSFS. They try different things at different times. Performance monitoring (telemetry) goes on and off, but this is usually communicated. But there is rarely an incremental improvement until the very end, as they work on different parts of the sim at different times during a public beta. This time around for both sims has been tough too.
No surveys available for 1.39.4.0, so I’ll throw my observations in here. Zero improvement from the last build. Major avionics-related performance degradation in numerous aircraft. Xbox Series X.
I’ve decided my test for whether or not a build in this beta is going in the right direction is whether or not I can successfully complete a smooth flight in the Black Square TBM w/ PMS50 GTN750 (For reference, this aircraft performs absolutely flawlessly in the SU15 public build).
After reinstalling the beta, I was again met with absurdly long loading into the sim (15+ minutes). Once in, menus and world map were jerky and laggy - The world map even froze up for a good 10 seconds at one point where I was almost sure it would CTD, but thankfully it didn’t. Loading into the flight took about the same amount of time as usual. Once in, I began setting up the aircraft. I had a bit of hope for a few minutes as things actually seemed quite smooth while panning around the cockpit. That was until I turned on the avionics master switch, and everything went out the window…. The sim again turned into a stuttering laggy low-fps mess. Solid 1-2 seconds chops when looking around the cockpit, and it felt like everything was moving in slow motion.
I decided not to give up immediately this time, and begrudgingly pushed through the stutters/lag to see if there was any improvement in the air. Unfortunately things were even worse up there - Not only was the sim even more slow/stuttering, but ground textures were probably the worst I’ve even seen. Just blurry green blobs with no detail (wired gigabit internet, so no bandwidth issues to blame).
I then made a very interesting observation - While playing around in the GTN750, I found that when the unit was on the home screen (not on the map or flight plan), much of the stuttering disappeared, the sim became much smoother, and the ground textures began to improve. Not public build levels of smooth, but much closer. As soon as I opened up the flight plan and or/map on the unit again, the sim exhibited immediate performance degradation again to the point of being nearly unusable.
There is clearly something going horrendously wrong with certain avionics and sim performance. This issue needs to be prioritized, as SU16 cannot ship like this. There will be some VERY angry people once they realize they can no longer use their add-on aircraft they spent a lot of money for in either sim (2020 or 2024)…
And in stark contrast to my above report, I just enjoyed a nearly flawless 2 hr. flight in the PMDG 777F… Superb performance from start to finish, with crisp terrain, excellent LOD, zero pop-in, and only VERY minor stutters on short final through rollout (which I’m tempted to chalk-up to the dense fog over CYHZ).
This perfectly demonstrates the biggest issue with the SU16 beta so far - The MASSIVE performance disparity between different aircraft. How can an extremely complex airliner perform a flight with near flawless performance, while turning on the avionics in a TBM brings the sim to its knees?
