I’m going to jump in with an initial assessment as I know that after all of the previous versions that have been terrible many people might be reluctant to try yet another beta update
Xbox series X
70mb internet
PG off
Live weather on
Multiplayer off
All traffic settings off
16mb RC
LVFR San Diego KSAN
PMDG 777-300ER
In the menus everything felt pretty good. Loaded in expecting disappointment and it didn’t come. No issues loading in. Panning around with the camera was good. Got all set up, pushed back and taxied the full length of the runway down to 27
Taxiing was good. Sometimes in SU15 when you go to external view for a bit and then switch back into the cockpit, the textures directly in front of the aircraft will go really blurry but this wasn’t happening. Takeoff went really well and by the time I was wheels up, I had lost less than a minute against real time. On previous builds I was losing 5+ minutes for the same process
Currently cruising to London Heathrow so will report back on that in the morning but looking good so far. If Heathrow (inibuilds) works well and has runway lights we could have the beginnings of a winner
One observation that I had noticed in previous builds of this beta is a flickering of text in the cockpit of the 777 which isn’t there on SU15. But hopefully that will be resolved
As a continuation from my first post on this thread (which I have replied to with this post), I lost just under a minute worth of time on the ground and less than 2 minutes over the 9.5 hour flight. By the time I parked up at Terminal 5C at Heathrow I had lost a little under 4 minutes across the entire 10 hour session in the PMDG 777. This is compared to previous builds of this beta where I would lose 40 minutes in a 3 hour flight in the PMDG 737. I would rate the performance in terms of FPS, as far as I can tell, to be level with the current SU15 build.
Arrival into London, the approach looked good and the runway textures were visible from a much greater distance than they would normally be on SU15 (@shampooh8912), especially after a flight of this length where the runway textures would often be popping in at less than a mile. Inibuilds Heathrow performed quite well with minimal amounts of stuttering and most importantly, the runway lights were working which would never normally be the case after a flight of this length into this airport
Overall I am very impressed and would go as far as to say that this is a huge improvement over SU15
Same specs and setup as I posted before. But this time, inibuilds Heathrow EGLL to Fly Tampa Corfu island LGKR in the PMDG 738. Usually on SU15 this route would not be fly-able due to horrendous performance issues at an addon that just shouldn’t exist on Xbox. But on this build, absolutely great performance. The Asobo team behind this beta update need a raise and put onto fixing FS24 as they have really pulled it out of the bag on this one
That’s because all versions since the first one have been absolutely terrible and everyone has given up on it. The only reason I gave it a go is because I also watch the PC threads and I saw someone saying it was great. Not quite believing that it could be possible, I thought I’d lend an Xbox voice to the mix and check to see if the same applied to us
I did a couple of short test to check performance and I have to say is good, but noticed the buildings looks very basic… checking the content manager I realized that when I reinstalled, it was just the base sim.
So, I’m downloading all handmade airports, procedural buildings, PG. I guess I would be back in the air in a couple of hours.
I do feel like the ground texture draw distance is probably a bit less on this build. But runways look good from any distance and performance is great so I’ll take that
Fully agree - tested with PMDG B737, Aerosoft CRJ - and the new kid on the block, the Flight FFX Citation X, all on Series X.
Completed all 4 flights.
Good FPS and good LOD.
This is a big turnaround after the last Beta and I rate it better than SU15 now.
Good performance and no black screen avionics to be seen so far.
So, I tried this build with a 1:40hs flight to Iguazu falls, A320 v2.
Performance: is good. smooth, no stutter. SBFI (Asobo handcrafted). The city surrounding the airport doesn’t include photogrammetry (the arrival isn’t very demanding). It behaved correctly, and the runway rendering distance is correct. It can be seen at about 10nm, with a sky with few clouds (live weather).
The render distance, or LOD, or whatever you want to call it, is always the same. There are no improvements in this regard.
It seemed to me that the quality of the ground textures are better. It appears to be loading high quality textures without problems.
never bothered me the render distance during flight, even on pc it’s limited, all I’m asking for is decent groud textures when you’re at low altitude and a good rendering distance when you land or take off or taxing into an airport. Currently on su15 the distance is too close, I hope this build will be the build that solve this.
My impressions so far are that taxiway signs render at a good distance and the runway is visible from way beyond that point where you start to expect to see it which is everything that we need and when the frames are smooth too it’s just awesome
