Amended title to better reflect the issue
[was: Something has seriously gone wrong since April 8 update]

Default ground services are loaded in upon touchdown. Maybe this is an issue related to this. If you check dev mode you can see it happening.
I disabled ground services and there was no performance drop after landing.

I did extensive testing and when I rolled back to the stable version, I do not have this problem.

Sim Update 2 Beta (1.4.11.0):

Sim Update 1 Stable:

Same settings, same airport.

One curious thing though and I don’t know if it’s related to this issue, you can clearly see the physical RAM usage in the beta is significantly lower than in the stable version. Unless I am reading this wrong?

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• It happens with stock aircraft and third party aircraft. In medium to complex airports, anywhere in the world. (Nairobi for example is not so big…). The lags begin at around 50 feets above the runway, to the complete stop of the aircraft. It go again if you roll faster than 5 knots. At take off, same thing.
It mostly visible when the vram or Mainthreads are at high level, but the lower performances also exists with low settings, and room for performance.
It was alreading happening on SU1 for me and it continues in SU2.
SPECS : 3070TI 8GB VRAM, res : 1080, traffic off, fg on. Dlss quality.

I saw the same landing at KLAX 24R.
FG on (RTX 4090) max graphics settings 60FPS on approach in the Fenix, as soon as I landed, FPS tanked to 19, really poor performance in this latest beta. Infact, the performance at all major airports is an issue that needs sorting for those of us tubeliner simmers.

How do you disable the default ground services?

I’ve seen the same thing, along with an increase in hiccups or stutters across my entire sim since SU2. While I’ve seen this issue in a range of aircraft (Fenix and Default B38M) it’s at its worst in inibuilds aircraft - the included ones, the 300 and 350

I found my performance issue mostly involved one bad (so far) 3rd party airport in this version of the beta (1.4.11.0) - Pyreegue’s EGPF. It tanks performance here just loading in for a flight and has changing ground texture issues. My performance tanks to 9FPS when I use it.

Seems like this patch has changed how some FS2020 airport textures are handled. Maybe there are others you are encountering.
Also noticed that performance tanks while loading in a big airports so I can see say 9FPS while LFPG loads in (for ages), but then performance eventually pops back up FPS wise to normal after the long load time. Again worth checking or trying to quantify. There is definitely something different with this build.
I’ve been using Pyreegue’s EGPF for example in all SU beta builds to date with no issues until 1.4.11.0.

It’s the rdrthread that is maxing out too.

I can’t say it’s related to landing as I haven’t yet taken off, but I suspect if I were to try to land here it would be a similar story.

Note: It’s definitely not aircraft related as the 737 is performing as badly as the c172.

Seen you posted this several times.
So did a quick test at Pyreegue EGPF.
TloD 350(?), otherwise High/Ultra settings.

Loads in quickly, just like any other airport. 5-10sec to stabilize.

Seems fine here, FGx2.
So might be a problem on your end, rather than an SU2-build problem.
At least try to uninstall/reinstall scenery if all other airports seem fine.

Thank you for testing this. I’ll give a reinstall a go. It’s very strange though and very repeatable. It was fine on previous betas too.

Nice config!

It seems to be at random for me. Sometimes it’s fine other times it’s not. My biggest SU2 gripe is the stuttering

Also what part of EGPF is that? The terrain in the background is looking quite sparse for TLOD 350

I just loaded in to check. Stand 2/3/4 I believe.
This is zoomed in with a phone showing maybe 1/10 of the screen, so guess thats why.

Point is: it loaded fine here :+1:

FWIW, I was just testing stuff again this evening when v1.4.12.0 beta hit.
Now there is no documented performance changes in this release.
However I also did another thing tonight. I went into My Library and disabled Zinertek enhanced airport textures. As I had been seeing ground texture switching issues at EGPF earlier and was wondering if that add on was causing the performance issues.

I then rebooted & installed SU2 v1.4.12.0, and EGPF is now working fine again performance wise. So my suggestion to anyone seeing perf issues recently would be to first try SU2 v1.4.12.0 and if it is still performing badly at some airports then try removing Zinertek enhanced airports ground textures (if you have that add on) and see if anything improves.

Ok did a flight EKBI to Just Sim’s LFMN (3rd party both).
Everything went mostly ok, other than the occasional annoying VRAM limit pop-up for a slight stutter here and there.

But when landing at LFMN, at around minimums, performance tanked to a frame by frame stutter that lasted until 5-10 seconds after I landed. Basically I stopped the plane on the runway without even seeing where it’s going since it was stuttering so badly.

9800X3d, 64GB Ram, 4070 Super 12GB VRAM.
Texture resolution = High, because on medium the ground textures are far too blurry
LOD = 200, since, same, at altitude the ground textures were below FS2020 in quality.
Dynamic Quality = ON

Most other settings High.

I don’t know what it is, but I honestly don’t care anymore either  . I don’t think they are fixing these stutters, just playing around with settings, nerfing stuff until it doesn’t stutter anymore, but it looks like meh.

If you are seeing LOD issues dump the dynamic FPS setting as it just seems to drop the lod (sometimes dramatically) just to hit the target fps. I’d rather know what I need to go adjust myself than have the sim just throttle down lods hard.

I’ve just done a flight in the latest build with ini320 and everything seems a good bit better (- fixed?). (Pyreegue EGPH to EKVG freeware). I’ll report back when I get in the Fenix tomorrow to see if any of these landing stutters decide to appear.

Ok so I did the following:

  • Dynamic Settings - OFF as recommended above (thank you)
  • Texture Resolution - Medium
  • Rest of the settings anywhere between Off and High, don’t think I have anything on Ultra anymore.

Same plane and location:

  • Aircraft: Fenix A320 always, same livery, etc. .
  • Airport: LFMN - JustSim Nice (as this is where I had the horrible stuttering)

Results:

  • It still goes right a bit above my VRAM limit, just a few hundred megs, but alas
  • at the gate: SU2 is less stuttery than SU1. maybe the FPS is a bit lower but smoother overall
  • Taxiing - SU2 is MORE sutttery than SU1 but OK on both overall
  • Takeoff - SU2 is a slideshow. SU1 is smooth.
