Fantastic version. Performance and graphics are really great. Draw distance and ground textures seem to be improved. The SU2 beta keeps getting better and better. Free flight right now is a dream. / PC
To me personally on Xbox X it goes so bad, I think most users are tolerant with all that but msfs once didn’t look like that. Everything blurry, many jerks, the mouse is half broken with the huge pointer. On consoles it takes more attention, already msfs2020 on Xbox was broken after the sim update and the introduction of that system that decreases textures and makes everything blurry excessively, for me they could fix a little things on Xbox on msfs2020 and I was happy. Which by the way now I find myself no longer buying any scenery on Xbox from msfs2020 since everything looks bad and blurry so I don’t understand the benefit, it would have been better to put a setting that makes people decide who prefers graphics to performance since on X-series it ran well and the biggest problem was on series S. Whatever
Looks great but now having CTD’s.
Have been flying C414…will try with a standard model and see if these crashed continue.
CTD’s when using the DA62 as well…interesting as CTD’s were extremely rare for me in the past.
Back to 2020.
It looks great, and it seems that each update is improving the quality of the graphics.
I still have stutters after 1 hour or so of flight when panning the view in airliners. But when i approach the airport, with slower speed, and lower altitude, the fluidity is back again…
(I’m flying at 80 FPS or so, so it’s not a vram problem… just the mainthread becoming read or purple when the stutters appear)
It looks fantastic in the daytime. Night textures, runway lights still awful. The sepia filter remains on the ground at night; mountains seem to have their own light source. Also, I have 3 CTDs out of 6 flights.
Couple of other things. (I am doing my best to like 2024)
.12 worked fine.
.14 is proving to be a nightmare…all my control settings have gone, and many CTD’s.
I have wasted enough time to to this version…one minute it works …then an update comes thru…then more problems.
Like many, many others I give up on on 24, and will go back to 2020.
This is a tough one because it can be like rating Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. When it performs well, SU2 is easily a 10/10 update for the sim, and elevates performance to a level that I could quite literally not be happier with (I’ve been able to achieve +80fps walking around an Airbus parked at KJFK at full ultra preset - beyond what I expect out of the sim, honestly). However, there’s a persistent performance bug (already reported and logged, fortunately) that will tank performance occasionally and the only way to fix it is to completely restart the sim. I really hope that can be addressed prior to the full release of this update.
I just did a flight from Hilo to Honolulu and it was beautiful. After shutting the plane down, I was going to go to bed, but decided to tinker around and hit random buttons on my keyboard to see what they did, and I’m guessing I ended up in skew mode?
I don’t know, but I did this around Oahu for a while and the graphics there are quite incredible. And I don’t know why, but this was kind of fun
So far .14 has been great for me ever since I realised enhanced runway lights had re-enabled itself, I disabled it and no more stutters on ground. No CTD’s in the 3 flights I’ve done which I could easily replicate CTDs in previous builds.
I did delete cache, so that’s probably why enhanced runaway lights re-enabled thinking about it but either way much butter than SU1 apart from ATC, slow mouse and blurry lights.
I can’t really find any improvement in this latest update, which was not really a surprise given the very short release notes.
I will not be happy till I have a good VR flight in the Daher TBM930, formerly my favourite aircraft. This still has the problems it started with in FS2024 - notably incorrect windscreen reflections and poor performance in VR (low 20s fps). In this beta, it now also has the regression of excessive exhaust fumes, destroying the side window view in VR. So still unusable. The EFB is now available in VR, but still unalterably large. VRAM still a problem, although they’ve incorrectly marked it as “fixed”.
If SU2 was meant to be the big update fixing lots of the problems, it has has only turned out to be a big damp squib.
In the 737 Max, I was able to start up from cold and dark just fine. My main problem was that the ATC was largely unusable with a controller on XBox Series X. The ATC on XBox should be tested and fixed. Again, the options are difficult to scroll. It also got stuck on call for pushback in an endless loop. It would send no pushback vehicle, then give me no other options. I was parked at a ramp not a gate.
So I could not get clearance so it became a taxi and runway incursion problem because I could not use ATC. I took off anyway. It went smoothly in the air for about 15 minutes until I decided to slew. This ate up the memory. So I landed the plane while stuttering badly a couple of times. I also lost instuments on the 737 as I usually do after a time. The slewing probably ate up the memory. And being at Honolulu Intl didn’t help because of all the demanding scenery. So I took off and did a slew to Maui where the scenery was less demanding to get the instruments back. They came back until this. I landed a couple of times, then it CTD!
So XBox needs some testing, fixing and overall tender loving caring attention!! SU2 Beta 1.4.14.0 seems about the same to me with the 737 Max. I figure the General Aviation are likely working with some stuttering so tested the 737 on XBox. It still CTD and stuttered with Honolulu scenery.
Im playing on pc and im happy with this build overall performance and stability with my intel 285K processor and asrock arc phantom 16gb card.
The movement of the planes and setup some strong winds from different stengths and heights
smooth transitions.
Altough the lods have changed, manually editting them in usercfg.opt i was able to get former value of 400 Tlod and 200 Olod back but had to set value of 800 Tlod and 250 Olod in the file.
Where is it mentioned that such values are supported?
Normally values in cfg files will be capped in the game at the min and max value for a particular parameter and values outside the supported range will not have any effect,
If set in general options Tlod and Olod 400 and 200
In advanced options it is possible to create a report where you can see what lod settings
The sim has set
Now i you edit usercfg.opt to your liking and rename former report, after this createa new report with the adapted settings and see in newly created report lod settings have changed.
This report file is containing lots of info about the use of settings like fibers lods and timings etc.
1.4.14 is the best build for me so far. Better overall performance, visuals, and stability. Still had a couple of CTDs with the 572.83 Nvidia drivers but nothing like earlier builds. No CTD since updating to 576.02 Nvidia drivers.
Just updated to the 576.15 (hotfix) drivers due to worrying about the temperature sensor issue but haven’t flown enough with those to say if they are better or worse for MSFS.
Well, on my side, when the flight is finally loaded (once of 5-10 attempts) this 1.4.14 build runs good (4K, RTX4060, i75930K, 16GB, Boeing-737 MAX 8 - FPS 60-80!!!). Unfortunately, this update randomized the sim starting and flight loading (and with 3d party scenery it does not load any flight to me). Also (this may be just a coincidence) after this update I am not able any more to start MSFS2020 (does not load the NAV update and stacks om updating page) and the XBox App does not sign in at all (there was an update to this app too, so, I am not sure which update shall I blame).
