Please indicate your playability of the sim with the following statement - VR performance (frames per second) in this build is generally:
- Great
- Good
- Acceptable
- Poor

Reminder:
For me, 1.4.10 was still by far the best performing SU2 beta build. Thanks!
I really need to keep above 30fps to give a smooth perfomance, which I do not achieve for much of the time. This is very aircraft-dependent - with the Daher TBM930, I struggle to get above 25fps. With the TBM, C172 ( and other aircraft), I wonder whether it is the extra calculations it has to do related to one or more of the following:
- Incorrect windscreen reflections of the changing ground beneath the plane. This must take more computer time than the correct static reflection (top of the dashboard) would. (This has been done correctly in FS2020, so I don’t know why they changed to be so wrong).
- In the Daher, the exaggerated effect of the engine exhaust on the view - again having to modify a large proportion of the side window must take computing power. (In FS2020, a much smaller, more realistic part of the view is affected.) This had been introduced in SU2 beta, so a bad regression.
- The modelling of the propeller shadows, for example in the C172. These should appear as a burred version of the propeller when turning, in other words only visible as a light grey disc. In FS2024, it appears more as individual shadow images of a static blade, so the effect of each blade is being unrealistically modelled individually, again unnecessarily sapping computer power. (Due to the technology, you do see such effects on video footage which perhaps misled the developers, but not in real life which the sim should be based on.)
I should add, in FS2020 I am mostly above 35fps, far better perfomance than the incorrect over-engineered FS2024.

Performance with 1.4.14 is very good and smooth for me in VR. Particularly after limiting frames to 45 in userconfig file (using G2 which has a 90 hrz refresh rate). I do get a small stutter every 10 secs after pausing the sim and resuming.
I have finally tested enough to report on this survey. Using a Pimax Crystal Light with an i9 11900k CPU, 64GB of RAM and an RTX4090 I am seeing acceptable performance but only outside of large cities and large airports. Low flying even in non urban areas can also see performance issues with stuttering and CPU usage of 100% on two cores at that time. I can get around 40fps and smooth flight with the full resolution of my headset in these areas with mostly high settings and a few items like trees turned down to medium.
Large cities and big airports are where I run into performance trouble and I get about 20-26 fps. I am trying to achieve 30 fps in those situations as when I am above 30 I still have a smooth experience in the headset. Unfortunately I can’t get there. What I’ve noticed is that anytime I am flying low either on approach or over a big city I am getting VRAM on my 4090 of 80-90% and stuttering with high CPU usage. Climbing back up higher this goes away.
The only way I’ve been able to slightly mitigate this is to drop my texture resolution to Medium. This drops my VRAM down to around 60% and has helped with performance and stuttering. At a large airport with lots of traffic like KDFW or KDEN I’ve reduced TLOD to 25 along with reducing many other settings however I still can not get the 30fps I need for a smooth experience.
It seems that there is a VRAM issue as well maybe some CPU optimizations that can still be done and I think this is related to alot of the other VRAM issues being reported with non VR users. Performance overall has improved from SU1 but these are the areas that I am seeing trouble. I pretty much need to avoid big airports and cities to have an enjoyable experience in VR. Having a 4090 I don’t think I should need to have to reduce my texture resolution to Medium to get the performance I need.

Unplayable for me on Quest 3 / 4070super / 7x3d /Linkcable
2020 plays great on med/high settings. 2024 is set to lowest settings.
There seems to be an eyesight rendering issue within the sim that causes motion sickness. Something is just not right about the viewpoint that is an instant stop the game for me.
Quest 3 headset showing -30% to -80% headroom, on lowest settings. (2020 is about +20% on med/high)
Bad visuals and washed out scenery.
