I downloaded some of my addons, installed them without any problems, and restarted the SIM (just in case).
Test case:
A short 45-minute flight to test. A320v2.
First attempt:
When zooming in to select the airport, it stutters a bit, then freezes for a second, and everything continues.
Loading the flight took a little longer than usual. But when it finished loading, everything worked correctly. No stuttering, no “disco tiles” effect.
It still doesn’t remember the position of the windows (ATC).
I tried connecting the passenger bridge, baggage claim, and catering. Everything worked correctly (in SU2, it works when it wants to).
Clicking on a chart (in the EFB) started loading and caused a CTD.
Second attempt:
Configuring the same flight, but now from the world map, clicking on the same chart started loading and caused a CTD.
Third attempt:
To check for issues with that particular chart, I tried another chart at another airport. Same result: CTD.
Fourth attempt:
SAZM/SABE. No problems, no stuttering. I couldn’t see whether or not the LOD or render distance had improved because the weather was terrible, but the little I saw looked very good. (If anyone likes flying and landing in rain and storms, Buenos Aires is ideal today.)
I hope I don’t regret what I’m about to say: MSFS2024 finally looks solid for the first time in months.
I attempted my first flight this evening from Bristol to Nice. Everything was going quite smoothly and ground textures and LOD were very good. However, during the flight I opened the EFB to check the charts for Nice, and then got a CTD.
I believe you. I ran a couple more tests after my initial post and saw the “disco tile” effect again.
The most intriguing thing is that I saw it on an auto-generated airport. One could suspect it could be some kind of issue with custom airports, but no. I also tried disabling the Zinertek Enhanced Airports Graphics add-on, but no change.
Regarding the LOD, I confirm there would be no improvement compared to what we saw in SU2. The render distance remains the same 5nm around the aircraft.
Please guys try to fly I. e. CAS Jcub with clickable passenger in front of you, trapping and blocking your inputs by invisible White Dot
Beside this still freelok fps herzting distortions and awfull pg. Unistalled and waiting for another beta.
Also, I have discovered (tested 3 times) that if you set LIVE TRAFFIC to IA and MULTIPLAYER to OFF, the airport statics aicraft are set to half occupancy or less.
Is memory logging on because it was a rough ride today in the Cessna 172 with plenty of stuttering as time passed, then lost instruments and ground textures? Restarted Flight Sim 2024 same thing. It was fine, but not for long, then stutters, then all of the graphics losses. Stutters were probably up to 5 second long delays, but stutters varied in duration.
On my first flight today, I flew roughly an hour or more before major stuttering. And I was flying in external view most of the time. On the second flight, I was at a gate at Fulton County airport for an hour or so doing checklists because the C172 would not start, etc., before flying 30 minutes in external view before major stuttering. I hope this helps.
On XBox Series X SU3 1.5.1.0
I did not use drone.
I did not use slew.
I only used external view and cockpit view, plus beginning short walkaround.
I did not download any data yet, but I have a 128 gb cache.
I’m speculating since no memory logging yet, then flying in external mode led to the stuttering and loss of instruments. I really would like to see a more optimized external view for longer flights in a later build. Because my parrots love watching the plane from that view. Though they enjoy all views. I guess external view eats up the resources. Fixing that would be great. Thanks so much!
I have downloaded the 3 aircraft I normally fly (A20N, A321LR & A330) as well as all of the air traffic aircraft to see if having the statics stored locally helps
Having the aircraft stored locally definitely seems to help. None of this initial blur you get inside the cockpit when switching views. Feels much more like 2020 in this respect
Something I notice with this beta is much less static aircraft but it’s an illusion. It looks like they aren’t there, but they just render in much slower/later as you see all of the jetways animating to link onto them which still causes a performance dip
Drone view making you fall out of the sky still happens from time to time and I’m still not sure why it happens. At the moment I’m thinking it’s if you’ve not turned on the engines but need to experiment more
Tried an overnight flight from MK Studios Tenerife to (forget 3rd party name) Doha in the A333GE. Performance was reasonable but I had the usual WASM crash during the descent so didn’t get to do the landing
Downloaded the beta yesterday, had an absolutely stunning (literally) C172 flight from Page to Monument Valley at sunset. First time MSFS 24 has wowed me on the Xbox, great performance and visuals. Then took the same aircraft down to Nice and had much the same. Today I can’t even load into a flight. Honestly it’s the hope that kills you.
