So I uninstalled the sim & reinstalled a fresh copy. Many of my FPS issues disappeared on starting a flight an an airport. Getting more normal FPS. Everything vanilla, community folder empty.
However as short flight to EGLL (default Gaya) from EGGP, and my FPS on approach is down to 20 or less and quite stuttery, so performance on starting a flight is fine, performance landing at EGLL(Gaya) not great. Using default 737 Max.
My setings: DLSS performance, Max FPS 30, Dynamic FPS 30, VSYNC half RR (60Hz), TLOD & OLOD = 100, AI traffic default but set at medium density.
My system 5950x, 3090, 64GB RAM, Win11)
Starting flight (everything fine at default EGGP, (just a few stutters taxing around)
The base frames on landing belie how stuttery it was on final with dynamic FPS adjusting the LOD down to target 30. I may try targeting 20 next time but I’m reluctant to have to go there.
Went back into SU3 beta again 2 days ago.
Performance at big airports practically unusable slideshow.
Just tested and compared at EGGL on clean installs, SU2 performs much better. Still some annoying stutters, but overall outperforming this SU3 beta for me.
Going back to SU2.
Win11 steam, 5800X3D, 7900XTX, 32GB 3200, playing in 4K
Still having TLOD loading issues on approach. Runway still doesn’t load completely along with surrounding PG terrain- when getting close to the ground struggles to load with associated stutters. Not as bad as previously, but still an issue. Fenix KLAX-KSAN. Clouds and OLOD seem improved? 5090, 13900k, 64 ram
Started a flight, butter smooth, even a lot smoother then with former versions.
No stutters when looking around, 100% my max frames all the time.
Then, arrival: at about 3000ft or even a little above it started to get worse.
heavy framedrop, stutters, no recovering
Restarted the complete sim and everything and started a new flight at the same arrival airport with exact the same conditions: same addon(s), same tools (BATC, Volanta, Navigraph Charts etc) and got my butter smooth frames back.
I know they will release it again with this bug.
no communication is what frustrates me as most.
someone from Asobo/Microsoft could make a post that they are aware, that they work on it, what difficulties they face, why it is difficult to fix.
What they need to track it down.
I’ve usually voted Great or Good, but this time I voted acceptable. I do limit my FPS which helps a great deal, and I get good performance by doing so. But the issue I am having is FPS regression.
I used to easily achieve 100+ FPS flying over and around NYC using FG ad TAA. Now I’m lucky if I get 80 FPS.
I always test by flying the CJ4 out of KLGA.
I’ve tried reinstalling the sim, Disabling the New LOD curve, and lowering my settings to no avail. I know this started happening with one of the SU2 betas. I don’t have a clue why.
The only thing I haven’t tried is reverting back to a previous graphics driver, but from what I have read that doesn’t help.
For my free flights, all is mostly good and acceptable when up in the air. It’s not good and quite frankly unacceptable on the ground at airports along with take off and landings. My hardware is very good (click on my gamer pic for details) and I have fine tuned both Win 11 and the sim to no avail. It just seems the stuttering is going to occur no matter what due to unoptimized code and we should be beyond this. Note: I have used no 3rd party add-ons during the SU3 beta.
After disabling Developer Mode, everything is working fine. Higher FPS, and DLSS is functioning again. In 2D at EDDM with the INIBUILD A350, there’s no stuttering at all. Only in VR (90 FPS target), performance drops below 45 FPS, so it’s not quite enough for proper frame doubling.
With default Ultra settings at 2560 x 1440 resolution, at EDDM runway 26L in the morning with clear weather and DLSS set to 4x, I’m seeing over 160 FPS in the A350 cockpit, and over 200 FPS when viewing from behind the aircraft.
Once again, apologies – I’m a bit embarrassed. I would have never expected that enabling Developer Mode would have such a significant impact on performance.
Yep i agree, some days FPS is really good ie 60fps+ at detailed airports with the fenix on vatsim and other days its 40fps even lower on somedays. This is with FG
Rated “Good”. No change in performance from the .15 build. On my PC I have not seen significant changes to performance (for better or worse) for most of this SU3 Beta.
Overall performance has been great under the following conditions that have previously been challenging for the sim:
Hardware:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE
64gb DDR5 6000 RAM
Settings:
Anti-Aliasing > TAA
Render Scaling > 100%
AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation > ON
Dynamic Settings > ON (targeting 30 FPS)
Ultra preset (with the following modifications)
Air Traffic and Traffic Airport Quality > OFF
Texture Resolution > MEDIUM
Scenario:
iniBuilds Airbus A350 with cabin
default handcrafted KJFK and EGLL
GSX and FSLTL (with external traffic injection)
Results:
Steady frame rate with FG
Limited at 30fps (observing 60fps)
Occasional stutters on approach, described below
The only issues I have experienced in performance are occasional stutters which I believe are attributed to either GSX or FSLTL loading in new assets as approaching/flying over airports - I haven’t done extensive testing with those addons removed to prove this theory though.
