[1.6.21.0 Regression] "SHIFT + C to Exit Aircraft" Remove UI

Either remove it or make it possible to hide!! Please and thank you!

The way how it disappears when you move and reappears when you stop shows that there is some logic built into it. In other words, it might have been planned.

I have so many rude words to say, and we might have to wait until the next build before this gets patched. I understand having in walkaround mode, but inside the cockpit smh. I hope they release a hotfix for this asap.

I bet you do, your comments clearly reflect your wealth of experience

This is a bit annoying in VR. As it’s Halloween here :jack_o_lantern: and I’m just sitting giving out candy I’ll look at a mod tomorrow to override this.

For those really (really) desperate for this to be gone right now, you can do the following.

(Remember, changing your install files is not good for the beta, and to do so is at your own risk. I should put even more caveats but we’re all friends here.)

If you want to remove the ‘Shift + C’ msg in the cockpit and outside you can do the following:

  1. Find your MSFS 2024 install location. If not sure you can use this.
  2. Locate a set of UI overrides called ‘cookedcomps’. Mine is here ‘D:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Content\Packages\fs-base-ui\cookedcomps’
  3. There are a scary number of files in that directory :jack_o_lantern: so find the one called ‘{5D8D140B-0F7E-4213-B2F7-E16727D57DDC}.html’.
  4. Rename that file to both hide it (the change we want) and back it up, e.g. ‘{5D8D140B-0F7E-4213-B2F7-E16727D57DDC}.html.bak’

To revert this change just rename the file back or wait for the next update, it’ll rename it back.

So with this change the UI is now broken in a nice way to get rid of the ‘Shift + C’ msg from inside and outside the aircraft. It’s basically taken away any info that appears in a UI component called ‘ShortcutsPage’ as it uses a ‘ShortcutsBar_Middle’ to put that info msg. Other things use that, but for now the baby and the bathwater are flushed.

So just to be really clear, renaming that file disables the whole msg bar in that location - other things that use it won’t appear. Don’t report that as a bug please.

I think Asobo will fix this up pretty quick, so hopefully the above is just temporary and I won’t need to do a Community mod tomorrow.

Happy Halloween! :jack_o_lantern:

Edit: removed formatting as requested.

Also see below for better file edits rather than file remove. See here:

Edit 2: someone did a mod before I could even get out of bed. Cool. although I am not sure it’ll work store version due to VFS stuff. See here:

That is actually what most of us want, I think, getting rid of any constant key bind reminders or other things in the screen that break immersion, especially in VR.

What a way to break the immersion from the game, I should be able to toggle it off, and yet still be able to use the control binding, people don’t need to be reminded how to enter the aircraft.

This won’t be remove for a long time

Do you know the name of the file for the “MSFS 2020” tooltip that shows over legacy aircraft in the selection menu?

Please give us the option to turn these tips OFF in the Settings! Both in the cockpit and in walkaround mode.

Bless you that worked.

So now we have not only this bug but [1.6.18.0] Piloting and Controls Notifications Stuck On / Displays as Off bug cluttering up our screens.

I don’t think anyone who needs a ‘shift + C to exit’ hints on their bottom all the time can ever manage to take off even in a Cessna
 So please remove it, Asobo

Yes please remove it

I disagree. For a nightly build yes this can happen. For a beta release no. Beta means that there was some testing before releasing to public. Non regression testing and at least a little of smoke tests. Here obviously, unless done on purpose, it is obvious to detect it during a smoke test flight. Beta can contains bugs for sure, test of new functionalities that usually are announced in release note, but we expect something that works at least for most of people. Here everybody will downgrade to su3 which ruins the purpose of a beta release.

Over 500 votes in less than 12 hrs. Now that’s got to be some kind of record.

I don’t even use this combination (I use an Xbox controller and LB + B ) works for me.

Yes , please disable this message and while you are doing that remove the VR controller disconnects message too!

Totally agree. Also that, the outside display of it, the internal and external HUDs should be disabled by default.

Why on earth?! Why is this now in the Cockpit???!!! Whats the reason? Really anoying. I give you 1 day time to remove this. This is a flight simulator not a game! (or should be)

There can be no doubt this is a deliberate inclusion, rather than a bug.

  1. It uses a phrase not used elsewhere in the SIM, so must have been added.
  2. With it’s perverted logic, it is in the correct location for when it would be “necessary”.
  3. It disappears when you start moving, and reappears when you stop which would have needed deliberate coding, and again fits the perverted logic of when it would be “necessary”.

These cannot be accidental mistakes. Somebody in Asobo thought it would be a good idea, and nobody had the common sense to stop them. The corresponding message outside the aircraft has always been unpopular and extremely annoying (especially in VR) but Asobo didn’t let that stop them.

Very disappointing, especially from a team who are supposedly flight enthusiasts.

Why would anyone think this is a good change ?. Developers, are you on your right mind ? Are you drunk during work? Cause this is how ridiculous this change looks like, can’t imagine anyone sober on their right mind would come up with this idea and got approved.

Worked, thanks so much. And the location is, Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MSFS2024\Packages\fs-base-ui for steam
