1.7.10.0 and 1.7.11.0 Crashes On Load When Activating Packages

I deleted my shader cache in Adrenalin and that seemed to fix it

Edit: well not for long, it CTD in game now, and I’m back to CTD at start again

Seems cache related though. Reset my cache again and it loads

That’s the main reason I suggested using DDU. Not all caches are deleted when using Adrenaline to clear the shader cache. DDU cleans everything.

Good find! I reset the shader cache in Adrenalin 26.6.2 and was able to start a flight, load a Simbrief flight plan, load BATC, turn the Avionics on in the C414AW, and configure the barometer and enter an altitude, but soon after this got a CTD. But your find should help the Devs figure this out.

Is Adrenalin required for GPU support? If it’s optional, try uninstalling it. Adrenalin may be the issue. I have an nVidia GPU and I never download anything other than the GPU driver. nVidia’s desktop App is optional and causes way more problems than it solves. Same goes for all their useless “features” like G-Sync, Frame Gen, Smooth Motion, DLSS, etc., etc. Great in concept but completely useless in the field. You can’t turn a 200 HP Miata into an 800 HP Corvette with software tweaks to the Miata’s ECU. Trust me. Kick that excess nonsense to the curb and see how it plays.

Adrenalin isn’t the issue, the sim has been working perfectly along with Adrenalin since the beginning, it’s only this particular SU5 beta release which doesn’t work.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: FS2024 app crashes during startup.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. From the XBox app, click on “Play”. The splash screens open, and after between 15 and 45 seconds, the app window closes.

  2. Sometimes I get a dialog box that offers me the options to continue or start in safe mode, sometimes not. When the box does appear, the app closes with either selection.

  3. I have tried the following: renamed Community Folder; deleted cloud save; reset the shader cache in the Adrenaline software. I couldn’t locate the “Streamed packages folder at …\LocalState.

Perhaps we should also try this. It was suggested early in this thread. My intent was to try leaving the beta, uninstall and reinstall the sim, but due to the fact others were having this problem with 6xxx series AMD cards, I thought I’d wait it out for a while and see what happens. Now, for a few days, I won’t have access to my computer and can’t give it a try until I do. Can anyone else confirm this works?

Hoping for a fix in next beta release. If you can’t wait you can always opt out of the beta. No need to uninstall, when you’re opted out of the beta it installs the last stable version automatically when you start up the sim.

I didn’t think that it would install the last stable version, but that makes sense. Thanks for your comment, @MaVe1628.

Same issue with AMD 6900XT and there was nothing that worked other than to opt out of the Beta. Wasted a few hours but learned my lesson to stay off Beta list from now on.

Also..after the 9GB update to non-beta all of my community content was disabled and I had to manually enable each one individually in My Library.

Has it been determined that this issue only appears to affect older AMD GPUs?

If so, I can’t help but think that the fix introduced in SU5 to repair the AMD 9000 GPU night lighting artifact issue may have caused this issue for older AMD GPUs. Just a hunch.

I’ve tried all but returning to a vanilla install, without any luck. I did note that version 1.7.11.0 installed today, but the crashes continue.

Release notes of 1.7.11.0 says nothing about the AMD GPU CTD. Anyone know if it’s fixed?
