IMO, the earliest realistic estimate for a fix would be the next beta or two. This might require AMD involvement too, complicating things a little. But I’m confident it will be fixed in a 5 beta, so I’m leaving 5 beta installed, waiting patiently for a fix and flying 2020 until that happens.

Same issue on Beta 1.7.16.0 still CTD when activating package and when revert to live version works no issue , again does not work on AMD 6900XT

I left the Beta weeks ago because of this crash (I have AMD 6900XT) and it’s very concerning to see this still happening. When is SU5 supposed to be “released”? I assume once it’s released there is no choice to update from SU4 and if the issue still exists MSFS becomes unusable for those of us with this problem.
I have too much money “invested” in add-ons and hardware, so worst case if SU5 is released with this problem I guess I have to change video card

Except that based on the their own system requirements, AMD 6000 cards are suppose to meet those requirements.

They have to resolve this prior to release.
The irony here is that the AMD 6000 series GPUs are bases on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture which just happens to be the same architecture that both the Xbox X and PS5 are based on. Go figure…
Could be they made a change in the code for those 2 consoles without taking the 6000 series into account. That’s just a guess.

Yes, I just got done. Reset the shader cache, loaded, went to the Marketplace, as I’d like to make a purchase or two during the sale, then crashed. No mention of a fix, so didn’t expect anything different with this Beta version. May get out of the Beta soon to purchase a plane or two but, if I do, I sure hope a fix is on the way with the next Beta version or two!!

Same here.
I have the exact same issue but with version 1.17.16. and from today with 1.17.17.
I opened a ticket with MS and it turns out that it was a faulty AMD dll file, but, this is was only after the update to 1.17.16., everything else works more than fine.
I reinstalled the driver as suggested, it solved the issue but only temporary as the update form today to 1.17.17. broke the dll again, this is not acceptable.

I think that its not AMD’s driver fault, it is MSFS2024’s fault.
And the problem exists on many SU5 betas now.
Im wondering if devs are giving the propriate attention to this…..
because I dont want to think that this issue will still remain with the final SU5 release.

This topic has been bug-logged (meaning it has been reproduced by our internal testing team), and is being investigated further. While I can’t provide an ETA on a fix at this time, I can assure you that the Development Team are aware of its impact on players in the SU5 Beta who are experiencing it.

If all RDNA2 GPU owners are experiencing the same issue, then we’re clearly dealing with what’s usually called a “core bug”. And that kind of problem typically qualifies for a fix, not something that gets pushed aside for later updates. I hope Asobo agrees and that a proper fix makes it into the SU5 live build.

Please, MSFS team, confirm that this will be fixed before launch of SU5.
Else a lot of users will be unable to use MSFS 2024 at all, as SU5 causes CTD on load for RX6xxx GPU users.

Am starting to panic a bit , su5 due next week and we still canot play su5 ! …. Did update to 1.7.21.0 and was able to play 2h without any CDT on AMD 6900XT did fly multiple time , on different location and all stable on VR so it seems to be fix
