Hi,
I’m thinking about upgrading my 1080p monitor to a 1440p. I would like to ask if the resolution helps with cockpit readability? In 1080p, when I zoom out to my preferred position I’m having problems reading numbers and some instruments in the cockpit.
Thanks for your response

Sure, it helps, but it’s also very dependent on screen size.
While at it you might want to jump to 4K directly instead.

The resolution will make a difference. Increasing it will require more from your computer, since we don’t know your specs, just be aware that the game might be clearer but come at the cost of performance.
While tempting, my wallet says a resound NO.
I’m aware of that, I’m looking in to upgrading my Vega 56. I’m asking more about dose it make a world of difference in terms of readability or is it just a incremental upgrade that diminishes the problem not solving it.
I use 1440p and it’s absolutely a must upgrade, in my opinion…not just because things are more easily readable, but better resolution absolutely goes a long way. Just make sure you have a GPU that can handle it.
My 32" MSI 1440p is clear as can be. Great size and clear, have to get really close to notice any pixels. My second monitor is my old Samsung LED 1080p monitor (27") and it is nowhere near as crisp. Even when I use my computer for actual work, text and everything on the screen is way easier on the eyes with the 1440p. If you are going with something bigger than 32", you may want even more resolution, but at 32" or less you definitely have my recommendation to get 1440p.
@Wieclaw9978 Worth the extra clarity. Upgrade the GPU first. On a Vega 56 you’re probably going to notice a 10-20fps drop.1440p looks best on a 27inch which is 109ppi will looks crisper than 32.That’s the sweet spot. Anything bigger there is a draw back in quality 32in 91 ppi which looks identical to 24in 1080p. Something around a 2080 is sufficient or the 3070 which is not out yet.

Yes, im using 27" @ 1440p and I cant imagine going back to 1080p, but its not only about the monitor but also the GPU.
What is in your wallet right now for a monitor, if I may ask?
This may give the rest of us an idea of how to help you. And, what GPU/CPU you have?
4k TV’s are cheap now. It may not be the fastest game input lag, but you could read the dials. It really depends on your answers above. I use a 4K TV and only sit 33 inches away from it. I have terrible eyes. Sitting closer to the monitor, with my vision issues helps me to see what is going on and I can read the dials.

Since the first release, I’ve also been considering a monitor upgrade. What I’ve learned is that opinions won’t clarify what will for actually work for your eyes but (short of trips to many PC stores to see the real thing) a spreadsheet, a few numbers and a descriptive article might get you closer:
I agree with you on that article SlowPokeFlyer. All the way at the bottom of that article it mentions what works for me. For being closer, and getting more immersion, my 55" monitor at 33 inches away is great for my eyesight. I do wear prescription glass for that distance (26 to 33 inches) prescribed by my Optometrist.
I think I read that article before I bought my current TV.
From the bottom of your website article:
4K will be noticeably better at a viewing distance of 32.5 inches or closer. If you have 20/20 or worse vision the difference might not be as noticeable unless you sit closer to the laptop, but in general the math says that there is definitely a benefit to having a 4K screen even in a laptop.
Another route (and less money) is to go with a 1080p at 144hz or 165hz. The difference between my older Samsung LED monitor and the Asus 144hz IPS panel is obvious. The Asus monitor is crystal clear and sharp as can be. Very easy on the eyes too; I work at home two days a week and it makes a big difference.
Yeah I did test it by using 130% resolution scaling and sure it deeps quite a bit lower about 25% less performance but still above 30. A GPU upgrade is in order if I go with a 1440p panel. I now have a 27 inch 1080p BenQ panel and it’s really very sharp for that size (pixel size and spacing play a big role). Thank you for your opinion.
You must have better eyes than me because 1080p on a 27 inch isn’t sharp.I have one and the 1440p with similar size is night and day.Btw 130 on 1080p doesn’t even look like 1440p
