When i select Autopilot then Nav in 172 the aircraft does not follow the flight plan. I have used this many times before but seems to have stopped working today.
It could be a “one time” type of event.
After a restart of your PC and then the sim, if it continues to happen, one thing that often causes these types of issues are mod conflicts.
Try the sim in Safe Mode to verify if this is the cause.
If it works in Safe Mode, it is probably a mod conflict.
Are you using the G1000? If so, you need to set a heading that intersects the GPS flight path and “arm” NAV mode.
I have tried most things. Logging out and back in the sim and my microsoft account. Done the usual settings check. Flown in safe mode and emptied my community folder so none of my addons can affect it. Its a program fault it has to be. Asobo keep saying they cant produce it but plenty of people are reporting on it in this forum. They need to have a good look at this now.
Hi vengerboy,
I’ve noticed exactly this happening in the 172 in NAV mode as well as several other aircraft. For me, it only started happening when I signed up to the AAU2 beta, and only when flying in external view, but others have tested for and seen the problem as well.
I started a discussion and poll on it in the AAU2 comments section here: Autopilot not working properly in External View - Aircraft & Avionics Update 02 Beta / AAU_02 Discussion - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
For me, it only seems to happen when using the external view / chase cam (I fly a lot of low and slow bush trips, and like to sight-see), and switching back to cockpit view resolves it, whereby the aircraft immediately turns itself onto the correct flight path.
I’d be really interested if you could review the linked thread, and add your comments to see if this is the same problem. Particularly any reactions or discussions you have had with the developers, as this could be the same problem or at least related.
