Hello. I had asked here but maybe no one knows. So i submitted a ticket to support to get clarity hopefully. I will post a reply when I get an answer.
Hello. Once the marketplace opens in 2024, will the current process of 2020 content being transferred into 2024 continue? Ie if you make a purchase in 2020 willl that add on appear in 2024 as is. Giving you the option to use it as is without rebuying or upgrading for full functionality if you so choose. OR will it truly become two sims where on order to pick which sim based on the desired add on to use. Ie if something only releases for 2020 initially or permanently.
I don’t expect 2024 content to be backwards compatible ported down into 2020.
I get that you prefer an official response from the powers that be. Nevertheless, you have posted here after submitting a support ticket with your inquiry, so my sense is that you have opened the topic for discussion…
My understanding after watching yesterday’s live stream is that we will gain some ability to mark add ons that we own as streamable or not in the next patch due next week. Not sure if this is the same as downloading them, maybe that comes later? Anyway, something may be coming our way next week, and very likely it will be a partial fix or an incremental offering. That said…
The 3rd party developers also have some say in what out there, compatibility-wise, so I am unclear if they can prevent us from either streaming or downloading non-compatible add ons. Others may have a better understanding of that rubric, maybe they will join the conversation?
Hope this adds to our understanding rather than any confusion, as I am not sure I heard or read correctly where all this is headed. Cheers!
Yeah all good man. I do think next we’ll (hopefully) get our addons back for good and can enable or disable. But we’ll see.
But what I’m thinking is if fs2024 takes months to get better, than what about Christmas sales for marketplace or 2020 only initial releases? If we buy a discounted item on 2020mp, will it port to 2024 libraries? Is that a permanent thing or only a launch benefit to transfer items.
If the bluebird 757 comes for 2020 only first, but the a350 for 2024, then what to do? Tho If 757 purchase can stream to 2024 transfer, than best of both worlds. As long as it flies. Don’t care if it’s fully perfect. Like the pmdg 737 currently is streaming. I use it. So yes I hope we can make our own choices
For example, yesterday I flew the Black Square TBM 850 in 24I bought on sale last week in 2020, so that part of the MP is working for us right now. They want MP open as much as we do, but the 3rd party developers are important stakeholders with a voice too. They need time to sort out their wares, else they hear complaints from us and they don’t have time or ability to fix things out of their control. The Black Square stuff that only recently came to MP for Xbox is now may favorites in 24!
Hi there,
I had tried to enable a couple of aircraft that I had bought for MSFS 2020. The transfer seemed to have worked, since my enabled aircraft were marked as streaming. When I tried one of tem the sim crashes almost instantly. Today I found sll the planes as disabled again. So I am not sure what that means.
By the way the upgrads from standard to Deluxe and Premium Deluxe are marked as streamed.
It is tricky to respond to your post without knowing which aircraft you are posting about. That said, most 3rd party aircraft, if not all of them, purchased through the MP are not yet updated for reverse compatibility with 24. Some of them have been updated by the 3rd parties for download outside of the MP, and PC users can partake of these updates using their community folders. Just because an aircraft model appears in your 24 library does not mean it is 24 compatible or will work properly in 24. This you have found out the hard way, it appears, so that means we have to wait till the developers update their models AND those updates become available in MP when it opens, which it has not yet. Meanwhile maybe stick to the models new in 24?
