2024 and 2020 versions should have their own bug report and support hubs!

Getting all mixed up , 2024 and 2020 posts under the same section just makes it a lot harder to use the forums and to get useful information !

Hello @vonsmall5893, all MSFS2024 Bug Reports should be tagged with the msfs-2024 tag. You can use the forum’s filtering/search functions to only view topics with this tag.

I hope this helps

not really . Dedicated 2024 and 2020 sub categories would make forum navigation a lot cleaner, faster and easier . Right now 90% or more of the new posts are 2024 related and 2020 users should not be pushed to the "rear seat " if you understand what I mean ?

Bugs sometimes relate to both simulators. Here the tags are quite useful to save the need for duplication.

I also struggle with the forum layout at times since it doesn’t follow the traditional structure of forums of old - and it seems to change a little too often. But it is very powerful, it just needs to be approached a bit differently.

To find every bug that has been tagged with MSFS 2020, use the Tags option at the top of the Bug Reporting Hub main category:

Then you’ll only see bugs tagged for 2020. You’ll note some are tagged for 2024 too - that saves duplication across two sub-forums. Nobody is being pushed to the back seat, in my opinion. Tags were not mandatory on older bug reports but I believe they are now.

Hey

I navigate typically by using the categories, here.

Post moved from Wishlist as this was a request for a change to the forums.
Change to the forums falls under the entry restrictions.

It’s hard enough finding the info and support that you need. After searching, Having to sift through all the obsolete 2020 posts is a hassle. We really should have a 2024 only forum… Or an easier way to filter out 2020 info.

As an example, looking up controller binding settings will bring up a ton of 2020 info. I don’t need to see that info as much has changed in the way bindings are done.

Thanks for considering. We need all the help simplification we can get with this Sim. With 2024, it seems at least Half the battle is figuring out settings. The up front learning and set up curve is ridiculous. I just never get around to actually simming. I’m always trying to figure out fixes and that’s honestly not what I want to be doing. I personally stopped using Msfs when 2024 came out. All I am doing is trying to get controls to work.

Have you tried filtering by tags?

I’d like separate forums too. I don’t care about wading through 2020 stuff or having to bother with tags.

I have this bookmarked: Topics tagged msfs-2024 From there you can navigate it as usual, but everything is filtered. You do it only once. But sure, we could have them spend a bunch of time creating an entirely new forum and migrating everything :person_shrugging:

They also need to separate out PCs and Xbox’s. Sometimes I’ll read a long post from someone who sounds like they might be on to something, but in the last line, I find they are on a Xbox - and then I realize they don’t know their elbow from Shinola.

Fair, but that is the way most games work. This is truly an exception there.

Fair enough. At least they have ways to separate it… Avsim for instance won’t even separate categories because in their mind all iterations of Flight Simulator are the same sim.

I’m from Steam where they’re forced to make separate ones. But of course this forum is far better than Steam’s as a general rule.

Yes. 1000000 upvotes. We knew this months ago. I mentioned it, and got my hand slapped for trying to ‘complicate’ the forum. I even started using a msfs-2020 tag. For heaven’s sake, why not simply create a forum for 2024?

The more I read everyone’s perspective the more I’m prone to agree, despite thinking it was over-complicating things at first.

The problem with relying on filters is that many don’t include the tags on their posts… especially those that posted for 2020 when 2024 didn’t even exist. They need to implement mandatory tags or something if we’re going to keep sharing the same forum.

Why is this not in the wish list for upvotes? I tried to post there and it was moved here. Do they even read this section? I feel like they dont listen to 90% of what we need. Unfortunately

From the pegged article at the top of the Wishlist category: The Wishlist on the Forum (Now on approval)

We ask that all members search the existing wishlist before creating a new wish per the guidelines of this this subcategory and the template that is provided so that your wish isn’t rejected. Since the introduction of the approval process, if your wish is rejected, it is because it does not follow the subcategory guidelines and / or falls into of one of the scenarios listed below:

  • A duplicate already exists - User did not search before posting
  • User is seeking assistance in incorrect category
  • The wish isn’t for 1st Party (MS/Asobo)
  • The wish is an SDK/SimConnect/API request
  • The wish is a bug
  • The wish is for the forum (design, category updates, topics, etc)

Do the Forum designers see this request? If not, where can we post for suggestions in regard to the forum? We all realize we may have wishes that just won’t happen for whatever reason but being heard and receiving acknowledgement of that would be great. Much of the frustration is not knowing. Thanks
