The easiest way to create a custom profile per aircraft is to first create a general profil for all aircraft :
-
Duplicate a profile (i took FS20). Rename It. Keep in mind that for one controller, you have to set general (way to navigate in menu, outside, etc), for all aircraft (ex : engage AP ou AT) and specific to an aircraft (ex : propeller axis only for C208B, battery or alternator, kind of flaps…). So to begin, try to do the more generic one, a profile that will be use for all aircraft. Then click “apply to all aircraft” with each controller. All aircraft will then use that profil.
-
Then, duplicate the “aircraft profil” for each aircraft you need to assign specific controls. If it a specific to an aircraft control, the sim will ask you to create a “aircraft specific profile”. When you end your creation, just “apply it by default”, it will apply only to the aircraft you are binding control to.
The sim will then load by default that profile for that aircraft with this specific controller when you load that said aircraft.
It will take a lot of time to configure but it worth it.
I hope I was clear
I have done few profiles and ok. But I didn’t understand the specific profile. How can I choose to save a command in the specific?
You don’t choose which category controls are in, that’s determined by the sim.
Personal Comments and Observations
It may have been a glitch in the Matrix, or just long hours when I should not be behind a PC after spending the full day job in the same position - but flaps didn’t work quite the way I thought it would in 1.1.7.0, but then it did in 1.1.9.0.
The new Control Scheme seems to be mix of me a) using the scroll down screen on the left, finding the correct Button or Switch Designation (I.e., Slider Y +/-) and flipping the list switch on it, or b) actually letting the Keybind map Scan react to me flipping the hardware control.
Specifically for flaps - in 7.0, I copied the controls verbatim from my 2020 install (screencaps) using the Scan function, and none of it worked. What should have been Flaps 1 dropped me all the way to Flaps 3. In 9.0, I found I needed to pick Flaps 1 from list, and then use the Scan function to map Flaps 2, etc.
I still cannot get Toggle Gear to work on any retractable gear aircraft.
I use a 3-way boat switch on the throttle configured for my flaps using the Extend Flaps and Retract flaps binds. Seems to work consistently across airframes. I can see how if you have a replica flaps thingy with 7-8 detents it can get a little wonky.
I have a 3-position switch on my throttle’s attached button box (VKB STECS MAX) that i have bound as gear up and down on FS2020 as buttons. Weirdly, its recognized as an axis in FS24 and doesn’t make the gear work at all. I changed the Gear Up/Down to a 2-way toggle switch on the same button box and works perfectly.
I created several profiles for GA and liners using traversal and control. Everything works fine. I searched on YouTube to find out what the specific profile is used for, but it isn’t used in any video. Please give me a concrete example because I really can’t understand its usefulness.
If you select the ‘not categorized’ group, scrolling through the list should show any specific controls. For example…
Thanks
Hi all, i have not found how to delete mapping conflicts. Let’s imagine a control with two assignments. I want to remove one of them and keep the other, but I can’t find anyone who can tell me how to do it.
If you go to the mapping you wish to keep and click the little gear on the right it will open a subset of settings. At the bottom of those will be listed any conflicts/shared bindings.
Click the one you wish to delete, and it will go to that binding. Delete it from there and you’re set.
I also use the Search by Input a lot when binding controls. Another way too look for conflicts.
I don’t understand the need for the game/aircraft separation. I was using multiple hardware interfaces like the TB quad with the TB stick in 2020. Really just needed to have the old way but savable per aircraft and would have been perfectly fine. Could bring in my stick profile and the quad saved for Cub throttle lever/vernier prop/mixture and save for this aircraft and done.
Could of added a ‘start with blank’ version and just build it up so it doesn’t have 4+ combination binds also locked into a given action.
I haven’t even tried setting up a turboprop yet to see if they’ve fixed anything. Still tinkering with the G1000 172(which I hate) because the steam one doesn’t work.
Then add some additional configuration bugs in there for good measure like non working real time axis tracking in sensitivities so it’s just a guess. 'Love a good time.
Thanks for your quick reply. I’m looking forward to changing several assignments that have conflicts, but my msfs 2024 has started an update…
GRRRR…
Dunno if you should be “grrrr…” about an update when so much needs fixing!
I agree, but this is very frustating just now for me!
great, never have I had the stuck at 97% thing in 2 weeks, but now I do with this ‘update’ on xbox
Hey, how’s it going? 1.1.10.0 downloaded and launched on my Series X pretty fast. Are you up and running it yet?
mmm… well, it’s been 12 days since I downloaded 2024 and, until today, I’ve only (or almost) dedicated myself to trying to configure my peripherals (keyboard, mouse and Hotas X) with the results that I have hinted at in my previous post.
Today, finally, and thanks to your information, I have been able to make some progress. After the update I got down to work, and although I must say that the steps you indicated did not work, because clicking on the conflicts did not bring up the page of the control in conflict, I did find another method that, especially for certain cases, I think will allow me to achieve my objectives. It may be that I did not understand the instructions you provided me well, or perhaps the bad behavior on my computer was due to the language of the interface, Spanish in my case, or… anyway. The solution found is to click on the header of the conflicts list, then the detail collapses, and then click on the trash. This will delete ALL assignments for that particular control (key, button, axis, etc.), but it’s a minor problem; you can then configure the one you want to keep and you’re done in two steps. Especially useful in cases of multiple assignments (3, 4 or more assignments for a control) since you don’t have to delete them one by one.
Many, many thanks for your help.
I’m fairly smart (humble brag) and i’m still baffled by the controls setup. If you’re going to have a complex system, it needs complex explanation. There should be hand-holding to set everything up. I’m on game pass, and until I have a nice easy way to set up four peripherals (lets not even get started on VR) i’m not buying. Maybe I could pay someone to set it all up for me.
