I was under the impression that a substantial portion of new scenery (aerials and maybe countryside TIN) had been delayed but Jorg recently stated in the Feb 2025 Dev Q and A that all scenery elements were currently in place.
Is Jorg mistaken or is there a bug somewhere preventing the data from displaying? This thread is intended to be a discussion to either prove it is not as intended or possibly that it is as intended but I was simply expecting way too much.
Some scenery such as the Grand Canyon are easy to see and they look great but, at the Grand Canyon preview presentation that was given, other countryside TIN locations were shown that I cannot even begin to find. One of those areas is Chicago. Heres a screenshot of countryside TIN locations as shown during the presentation:
You can clearly see that Chicago should be different in some way from msfs2020 and what I have found is that the Chicago PG appears the same and imagery outside the PG region is the same in one place I checked but different in another. I would expect that an entirely new data set would have different imagery in all cases.
Here is one example showing imagery outside the PG is the same in both msfs2020 and msfs2024: Notice the embedded truck making a turn

So, in at least one case the imagery is different. I think the aerial under KORD is also different but I don’t remember at the moment. The Global Preview presentation made separate mention of updated aerial imagery and that graphic shows most if not all of the US getting new images.
There is much about 2024 that has not changed from 2020 and so, if Jorg is not mistaken, there must be a bug preventing data from displaying. It has happened before I believe where certain TIN cities were supposed to be in the sim but were not due to some server side setting if I recall correctly.
And so we need to make some noise as best we can so that it can be verified.
The above graphic also appears to suggest that the Allentown region should look different but it also appears the same.
I think there is a bug but I need your help if you care. Please report your findings with comparison photos showing that promised TIN and aerial updates are not showing in some cases.
