Yes, we heard weeks ago that the SU5 beta was coming “soon”. I think all of us expected it any day with that announcement and not even a word since then. I’m sure the dev team hit some snags or setbacks but it would be nice to know just a few details so you don’t get that disappointment of looking every day and thinking the new forum category and some surprises and challenges will show back up.
Some development manager has the big picture of all of those developers and teams. We don’t need details, just a basic roadmap.
No mention to SU5 which was said to “begin soon”, last week.
This is now month and half since the release of SU4.
it seems like with each SU the interval between SU’s getting longer.
The mention of SU5 beta testing was on Jan 8, and said:
The SU5 public beta is targeted to begin in the coming weeks
Asobo released SU4 and MSFS for PS5 in December, then went on holiday. They need some amount of time to work on SU5 before releasing a beta test. Weeks is certainly reasonable.
No word on the focus cities for the next City Update, which Jorg teased in a interview.
Weeks is certainly reasonable. Heck, a month would be. I think what’s upsetting is the information limbo we’re in where silence on progress just brings uncertainty and worry. It would be lovely if a message came out every week or so where someone said “We’re diligently working on the new beta and just have a few nagging snags to work through. Please be patient.” That took me about 15 seconds to type.
Thats actually not reasonable at all. Ill explain why.
We are waiting for a release of a beta of a patch ! Not even the actual patch which will probably gets released 2 or 3 months after the initial release of the beta.
Now, it would have been reasonable if in between, the release version would get some fixes, hotfixes, small patches for a specific issues, but it doesn’t.
Its not exactly a patch though. Its a sim update.
I can see why it might take some time if it includes a new approach that replaces some PG trees with autogen ones. They’ve said they have been working on a number of different approaches to that concept but they havent said anything more that Im aware of. Im sure many of us have a few thoughts on the subject.
Hello @Saurer01,
We previously announced back in November that we are making changes to the weekly blog due to player feedback. You can read all the details here:
Development Updates will still be published, but now they will be released when the dev team has new information to share with the community, which isn’t every week.
Development Updates will be focused solely about development information of the sim, not Community or Marketplace news. Publication dates are not locked in to a certain date, but the goal is for a new Development Update to be published either on an ad-hoc basis whenever the team has important new information to share OR for a new Development Update to follow each Developer Livestream (approximately every other month), giving a recap of the topics discussed by the panel for those simmers who were unable to watch the broadcast live on Twitch or prefer to read a text article rather than watch a YouTube VOD of the session.
Development Updates will include the following sections from the current weekly blog:
- Development Roadmap
- Feedback Snapshot
- SDK Update
- Third Party Update
- Other Development News
Thanks,
MSFS Team
You can call it Sim Overhaul if you like.
Bottom line, these updates are the ONLY form of delivering fixes. So at the end of the day, its a patch.
I guess that this is what happens when you want to implement your game on multiple platforms. Look at Hytale ![]()
That is really nice, thanks!
I was thinking that the development updates idea was dropped
It also goes against what they sold us
“a streaming model means more frequent hotfixes and updates”
Well I hope they hot fix the glass avionics at least which broke after su4 when they get beta su5 up and running
I just want the Antonov 225 fixed and properly working on MSFS2024 ![]()
It’s my most flown aircraft on 2020 and it still isn’t working well 2024 (for example, It just stops working randomly)
Also the TACAN properly working on the F18 like it does on 2020 would be nice too (on 2020 it let’s select the TACAN course, on 2024 not)
(btw, I already reported both bugs on MSFS 2024 launch and I’m checking if they are fixed every update)
I hope that when they introduce the super heavy cargo whatever in the career mode, the Antonov will be one of the few available for purchase in that category so more people will notice how it still isn’t working and… I guess that with more people complaining about it, finally devs will give it the attention and care
A lot of issues are getting fixed server side without any announcement since the first day
Yes this is long lost “promise” of sorts, so many issues could’ve been fixed with Hot Fixes but we continually have to wait for a a full Sim Update which can take half a year.
When can we expect next SU for MSFS 2020? And are there roadmap anywhere where those can be seen? Next SU for 2020 could focus improving on weather…
The SU16 is not the last one ?
