I think that people find conspiracy theories yummy for some reason. Why voluntarily raise your anxiety levels through this kind of speculation when instead you could just play and enjoy the sim?
Brand new member, problems with Thrustmaster throttle on 2024 X Box. Cuts out after short time. Any suggestions? AI tells me it’s common and needs a patch?
The way of the world and we feed that cycle. We are the worker bees that bring the honey to the hive - and frankly we won’t change because we’re hooked!
I don’t think Xbox is going anywhere to be honest, neither is MSFS. Xbox has never sold as many units as other consoles even since the very first Xbox was released. Then the Xbox 360 came out and must have almost bankrupted them, with all the replacement consoles they must have supplied under warranty! I have always been into Xbox rather than other consoles, mostly because I prefer the games that it has. It’s as close to playing on PC, without getting a PC. The only reason I bought my series X was mostly so I could play flight sim and I’ve been hooked ever since.
To be honest, I’m more worried about the storage shortage for consumer products like hard drives, RAM, and graphics cards, and the drastic price increases…
I’m in the “MSFS is doing fine” camp but I do find it perturbing that the eerie silence from Jorg and the team hasn’t been explained. All it would take is a simple, “they’re currently very busy working on updates”, yet all we’ve heard is a community manager’s single line, “MS aren’t closing down the sim”.
I for one was hoping for something a little more encouraging.
From my work experience in the corporate world, when things are changing and/or uncertain, folks (especially leadership/officers) go quiet. This has always been true for me and I had survived many a reorg. Which is not to suggest that this is what is happening, just why the quiet. Good idea to just wait and see when they have something new to announce and/or show us during next livestream (whenever that is right)?
This entire thread is speculation. My point is no one here knows exactly what will happen, regardless of what the new Xbox leader has or hasn’t said. But it is a monumental shift for Xbox, per several reports who claim “inside” knowledge. Time will tell.
I don’t think anyone is denying this thread is nothing more than speculation, but people do see patterns in this sort of corporate script. You’d think MS would want to avoid any negative speculation but they’re doing little to settle community nerves.
I personally don’t think we should be overly concerned (didn’t Jorg not so long ago claim there are now record numbers of MSFS users?) but I fully understand others’ concerns. The issue with big corporations is success is typically a double-edged sword: the more successful something is, the more it needs to be milked; but the resources ploughed into it become less. Not that I think this, but the train of thought could be, “MSFS is such a success, it doesn’t now need a consistent three-man lead team”. The bean counters have no connection with the people using their company’s products. What’s more, they don’t care. I genuinely think Jorg and his team do care but they don’t get the final say.
As I say, I understand the unease. But with so many promises made regarding FS2024, I doubt they’re going to just pull the rug from under us.
Thought this article was well worth the read. Sums up a lot of people’s questions and concerns pertaining to the big Microsoft and Xbox games org changes.
Not sure why all this talk about Microsoft. They’re name may be on the product but it is Asobo that manages and develops the game. The fact that it is named ‘Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’ I’m sure is just a licensing thing. They may also help market it and allot some server space but their involvement ends there, IMO.
