240 gb is enough

Hi,
I have currently a 480gb ssd and 1tb hdd
Since I don’t have enough space in my ssd, i moved my MSFS to my hdd. But it takes too much time to load the game. And i may be having a fps loss or late object load problem.
My game size is about 120gb. So if i get a 240 gb ssd, will it be enough for future updates and possible addons? What do you think?

Hi
go for min 500 GB or more
My MSFS incl community folder etc etc uses already 225 GB
a samsung evo costing arounfd 50-60€ … so affordable and less frustration later

And indeed MSFS on the HDD is “painfull” so move it to your new SSD

I would do 500 or 1TB, they are so cheap now it’s crazy. If your motherboard has M.2 NVME slots go with that it’s 5X faster then SSD and about the same price. My game loads in just a few seconds.

A few seconds? I’ve got a Samsung 980 with MSFS on and it takes a few minutes.

Ditto. Samsung EVO 970 Plus 1TB NVMe for me. And it takes about 2 minutes.

NVME is even better but no “must” for performance which is mainly determined by CPU and GPU.

Another point for a more capacity SSD or NVME is also the MSFS rolling cache size , which then can be increased without “remorse”

1TB SSD separate to the OS drive, always recommended. NVME if possible but not much loss in having a SATA one and there are some great deals occasionally springing up!

 Ok maybe a few seconds is a little bit of an exaggeration… More like 82 seconds.

The storage space/currency relation improves with larger SSD.

So I would opt for at least 500GB or even 1TB if you are able to afford it without too many problems.

However, you don’t really need an NVMe/M.2 SSD yet. Those offer a read/write performance that almost never gets utilized outside of very specific professional uses.
