28 fps rtx2080 Limited by gpu?

Ok, I never fly the Airbus so I figured I’d give it a whirl and see how much the frames drop. Everything is set as my pics above. I am flying around KORD from the Delux version to give it a workout…

Took a hit on frames but not as bad as I expected. Still ran very smooth.

Pls play the sydney Landing activity and tell me your lowest fps.. doesnt take long

It drops to 25

25 in and of itself is not terrible as long as it is smooth. We do have to remember that, as always, a new sim is typically ahead of hardware.

Sorry my mistake, I think - You got an i7-9700K? That does not have HT

So basically us guys that do not have HT are loosing out on performance?

Yes/No. the i7-9700k does have 8 physical cores, so better than a cpu with 4 cores & HT. And you can still overclock it.

No it doesn’t. 8 cores. They all get used fairly evenly with the whole thing running between 45-50% at between 4.6 / 4.7 GHz

Ok, tested out the Sydney thing. Looks like the dip you speak of is more about the landing marker than the scenery on approach. I did it twice and both times, right at the landing spot there was a dip. That is something wrong in the challenge itself. You can see that when the frames drop, my GPU utilization also drops from in the 90s to the 70s which would typically be the other way around.

Not so fast please. I was in the process of answering something directed at me. But thanks anyway.

My apologies sir.

Well that depens on the game, if it’s terribly optimized or has many CPU-heavy tasks, a bad/medicore CPU will be the bottleneck even at 4k. I play in 4k and my old i5 7600k @4,8Ghz was the bottleneck, I upgraded to an i5 10600k (more cores, more threads) and now my GPU is the bottleneck again - as god intended

And I bet you $5 that my i9-9900K would still be the bottleneck at 4K with max. settings even if I could overclock it to 6GHZ :sob:

Would be interesting to see how this runs in 10 years time as hardware progresses.

Those holographic flight decks will be excellent!

If you are GPU bottlenecked, I think lowering most settings (minus objects level of detail) should help a bit.

Quick reccomendations:
Objects LOD 100
Ambient Occlusion High
Windshield Effects High
Texture Supersampling 2x2
Shadowmaps 1536
Terrain Shadows 512

Full compilation of GPU intensive settings here:

However it is quite weird, I haven’t dropped much below 30 when GPU limited on a GTX 1080

I found one setting today that made quite a difference the Obj LOD settings I dropped that from 200 to 100 now the sim stutters.Left everything else on Near to Max and the sim is now stuttering less.

I cant deactivate fps even if i Exot dev Mode

restart game, its a bug

GREAT post… mine is running great as well.. Curious.. how do you LOCK IN FPS at a certain framerate??? with Nvidia settings? ??

Thanks! I use MSI Afterburner. I was using it to overclock my GPU but with the latest patch, it seems run smoother without the overclock. I still use it to display may frames and temps and stuff.
