In all honesty you can’t tell the difference. I have a 40 series. Frame generation in MSFS is incredible. The fluidity of flight at ultra high FPS is a technical marvel, and it circumvents CPU bound in majority of cases also. I can never step back to an earlier gen graphics card now. I don’t get why people are fixated on ‘fake’ frames. It is not something to get hung up about. Just enjoy the advance in technology.
I think because they are fake

It might make things looks smoother, but it gives more latency, so it doesn’t actually feel/play more smooth.
Also, in my case (wanting to create 4K MSFS videos like this first one i made already) it’s a no go because of the flickering that clearly shows in the footage after recording.
And that’s just one of the artifacts. Not everyone perceives it in the same manner, to some it’s way more obvious than others, but i know that i am very sensitive to things like this, and i don’t want flickering in my MSFS youtube video’s either.
So for me it’s not a reason/argument to get a 4000 series card. Especially when Nvidia is charging these insane prices for GPU’s with features i don’t need/want, GPU’s with not enough VRAM, and GPU’s that have had a big memory bandwith nerf compared to the earlier generation.
Have you actually experienced 40 series, or relying on you tube to educate? If you haven’t tried directly, then would definitely recommend. Perhaps a friend or colleague might be lucky enough to have one, and willing to demo to you. The latency is a non issue, the flickering is a non issue, and artifacts are a non issue. To be fair, Simhanger concluded the same. Having said that, maybe other peoples experiences might differ as there are so my hardware setups out there. I do also have a top of the range QOLED monitor which is a pure joy in it’s own right. That might be the difference maybe. I guess it all comes down to what all of our tolerances are in terms of affordability. Best of luck with your videos, and your search for the right GPU for you.
Haven’t tried a 4000 series card myself, but don’t need to, to be able to come to some conclusions already.
More latency is by definition is a problem for certain types of games/gameplay, but not really for flight sim.
The artifacts may not be a problem for you, but they are for me.
Like for example the flickering i mentioned/showed earlier in that simhanger video.
And that guy from Simhanger didn’t say it’s a non issue, he says the flickering is evident, and that it’s even worse in recordings.
Not sure if you watched that (part of that) video on a tiny screen like your phone so it maybe is less noticable, but the flickering on the digital instrument panels is quite bad.
It would give me unusable footage for my flight sim videos.
This is a good video as well about the DLSS3/frame generation.
It certainly isn’t a feature i’m willing to pay hundreds of € more for. (that’s what is comes down to with this 4000 series generation).
I rewatched the Simhanger video, this time on a full sized monitor (you were right…I previously watched it on my iphone
). To be honest, that flickering, which is clearly evident on his video, is absolutely not what I have experienced at any point on any game or sim with the 40 series. Guess this will come down to different hardware combinations causing different results. In my case, I haven’t experienced anything like that. I literally have 0 artifacts off of FG, and that is with a 3440x1440 screen often in a darkened room which would really expose issues if there were any. I also tend to be susceptible to migraines so am quite sensitive this stuff myself. In terms of Latency, I am not a competitive gamer. I am a life long gamer that doesn’t accept compromises in quality though, as what little time I do get to play on games I expect decent results, and latency with FG has never been in any way noticeable (Forza Horizon, Spiderman, MSFS etc). Again, just wanted to share my experience to give anther perspective. Often our friendly YourTube influencers are just amateurs like the rest of us i.e. not qualified to give professional opinions ![]()
I prefer native rendering without Frame Generation, DLSS, etc.
But do also use TAA, Temporal anti-aliasing, to reduce any jaggies.
Please. A little louder for those in the back
Yeah, me too.
Native rendering, with Vsync (which you can’t even use when using frame generation, for that alone i wouldn’t use frame generation) always gives the smoothest MSFS (or fsx back in the day for that matters) experience for me with practically no stutters. And i’ve testeld quite a bit of different setups/settings etc.
Just have to be sure to be able to maintain the targeted fps with Vsync.
For me it’s Vsync 1/2 on a 60hz monitor at the moment, so 30 fps Vsync.
I’ll switch to 60fps on a 60hz monitor when 60fps is doable all the time in all scenarios (so also big airliner on busy/big airport) with the hardware available.
