With the new Helicopters Flight Model Code out in the wild, when do you think we’ll start seeing 3PD’s churning out some whirly-birds?
Perhaps within the next few months, weeks? Personally, I’m hoping the next Marketplace Update, but maybe that’s just me being selfish.
Best I can think, with so many options already on flightsim.to, all they’d really need to do is move the physical model over to the new code, but I’m sure there’s more to it.
I’m just chomping at the bit.
Also, here’s a little something-something if you weren’t aware:
Yes, (alpha) build 344 of the H145 uses native flight dynamics of MSFS. Still some things have to be tuned (Especially AP section) but it already flies pretty nice!
Cowan simulations will make their helicopters to MSFS, their have partnership already. I think they first will be 500E, I hope H125 will come too. I have that 500E to XP11 and it is good. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/273711-x-plane-12-updates/&page=3#comment-2430873
"I have a partnership setup with Microsoft already just for that. This winter that starts. Then right back to XPlane. If I decide on some helpers that could speed things up. But yes, it’s happening. "
I definitely hope there’ll be a ton of cool helicopters coming. I bet a lot of potential developers were waiting for them to properly implement things. I imagine that makes developing them at least somewhat easier…
I’ll also echo the wish for a classic Hughes 500. Those are just too cool.
I’d also like to see a classic JetRanger 206, and my absolute personal favorite helicopter: a Kamov KA-26. I’d pay good money for all of those, and REALLY good money for a great allround 500 package with a study-level bird, lots of cool liveries, floats and the ability to fly it with the doors off.
