YES!! When using frame generator, there is some weird flickering when you pan around views. Almost looks like screen tearing. This has been reported by many. Some people are just fine with it, but I can’t stand it nor DLSS.
I prefer the RAW settings. TAA on DX11 with 4K and Ultra preset, I’m getting smooth 60+ fps on ground most of the time. 70+ fps after about FL040.
Regardless of the topic discussion, I’m just shocked how rich people are. They can get this card once it’s released I on the other hand have to wait at least a year and that is even debatable. Even upgrading my i7-17000K to the next X3D CPU is super costly and I’m looking forward to sell my old parts for a good price in order to be able to buy it
All I can suggest is use TAA and push the renderscale slider as far right as it will go. This might let you raise LOD a little but don’t expect more FPS.
One thing’s for sure, you will have the best looking 3440x1440 at close range ever.
I think this is a bit misleading. There is hardly any difference between 3090Ti and a 4090 when it comes to RAW settings(TAA, DX11 or DX12). As far as fps goes, you might get 3-4 fps more with the 4090. However, it is much smoother with 4090 and more consistent on fps.
The huge fps improvements come with frame generation, but there is a downside that there are flickers/screen tearing effect and you get shimmering effect. If that doesn’t bother you, then by all means, great. But I can’t stand it. I can’t even stand DLSS.
Personally, I’m buying a high end GPU for its raw power, not a magic trickery with DLSS or Frame generator(Not for MSFS at least).
Again, you do see a huge improvement in DLSS/Frame generation but just know that there will be some dumbed down image quality.
If you are a die hard TAA like me, you will probably see at most 10 fps more with a 4090 compared to a 3090Ti, BUT it will run much smoother.
3080 can be routinely maximized with 4k ultra and high fog weather situations. That is before reaching 60fps. Still it will manage 35-40 fps with ease. But the vram buffer was really bad. But for 700 dollars thats a great card. Probably a spiritual successor of 1080ti. It’s a shame it didn’t sell at that price for most of the time.
I can’t speak on behalf of a 3090ti as I only had the 3090, but a lot of people thought the 4090 was only a powerhouse via DLSS etc, but go pull up any review on YouTube and look at the rasterization power between the 4090 vs 3090, 3090 ti. Also, comparing the two msrp prices of the two (at launch) 4090 is a steal in comparison to performance. BUT this is spoken at 4k gaming, if you game at 1440p or such then it’s a waste of money and one should not upgrade.
If you’re talking about specifically MSFS performance coming from a 3090 it was a significant jump in the sense where before i couldn’t even pan around with the camera smoothly as I would get hit with stutters or this slight lag, but with the 4090 i’m able to focus on actually enjoying the game without any kind of stuttering whatsoever. The game will only get better with optimization, therefore we should see even more framerates. It’ll be interesting to see when my 13900k + 7200 DDR5 ram comes in.
I agree. The smoothness definitely is improved by a big margin. I just don’t want folks that are looking for RAW performance to think they will go from 40 fps to 100+ fps. It is possible with DLSS and frame generation, but again, with some downsides to it.
Still waiting to see comparison native performance TAA (no DLSS or Frame Generation) between 13900K + 3090/3090Ti and 13900K + 4090 with both DX11 and DX12.
Here you go!! Don’t know how authentic this is but it seems to be same performance as 7950X in MSFS. But I will go with 7950X cuz it has more L3 cache so it should in theory make the sim run more smoother. Plus, once AMD comes out with the X3D early next year, it’s bye bye intel with it’s 13900K.
Thanks, but I would like to see real reports from our fellow simmers here (not streamers), and about native performance comparision between 3090/3090Ti and 4090 with newer gen. CPU (either Intel or AMD) to see how the bottleneck issue will be improved and how more performance the cards can reach further.
Considering 5800X3D is giving better performance than 7950X, then I guess 13900K gives worse performance than 5800X3D. Thanks for the video I’m glad that I didn’t buy neither, will wait for the next gen X3D that should come next year I guess.
Hmmm, that video you linked is not to accurate. There’s plenty of reviews showing the 7950X outperforming the 12900K in almost every game including MSFS, but yet, this video shows 12900K out performing the 7950X?? Nah, ain’t buying that one.
