471.96 driver cured my CTDs

Allowing MS to install drivers is one of the worst things you can do, especially for a custom gaming PC.

Understandably MS does this in order to help people that aren’t so computer savvy, and it’s alright if you’re not, though when MS starts loading in drivers as in the form of WDM drivers or outdated drivers or drivers on top of drivers for hardware that share similarities but differ in a feature or two whereby a custom driver is implemented to support variation of features it can cause a lot of problems.

Good rule to follow is become familiar with the hardware of your PC and where to locate drivers to download and install. And before even connecting the PC to the internet make a few changes that tells windows not to install drivers, given that you have installed the OS yourself and even if you haven’t it may be a good idea to look for driver updates manually.
