4K and 2K monitors - shimmers and aliasing

I have a 1080p and I’m finding the shimmering/aliasing textures on water and buildings really off putting. I’m just interested to know if 4K and 2K monitors are completely shimmer and aliasing free, or can you still get it on these resolution monitors?

I just bought a 1440p last weekend an the difference is remarkable. I have been using a 24" FHD screen for the past few years. Even with full upsampling it couldn´t even draw close. With TAA there is no noticable aliasing effect for me.

Go for it. won´t regret it!

Hey thanks. Was there a noticeable drop in frame rates between 1080p and 1440?

Not really, depends on your GPU though. I didn’t noticed any fps loss tbh but I think maybe max 5 FPS on my end (RTX 2060 Mobile).

1440p or above is absolutely the way to go in this sim BUT there are still plenty of bugs and visual degradation lately… so it doesn’t fix all. I have a 2080 Ti, i9-9900k, 32gb RAM, SSD and I still see yucky visuals more often than not (especially in cities in the US).

Not really as i had used full resolution upscale on the 1080p whereas now i just leave it a 100%. Also, even though i onlay have a 1080ti i seem to be processor bottlenecked, so now at 2K the GPU finally can go to town…

Thanks. Will a 1440 eliminate shimmering and aliasing on buildings and water edges? Or do you still see it? Don’t know whether to go 4K or if 2K is enough

The monitor isn’t the problem (or the solve). The game has to be optimized to improve these.

I don’t notice it terribly thought on my 1440p. You can’t go wrong on either choice.

I’m using Nvidia Inspector. Cracked up AA, has improve things somewhat.

You still get aliasing with rivers at a distance with 1440p. Building you dont notice it so much. IMO it got worse with the new TAA.

Yes agreed, it seems much worse.
