This topic is for 5090 benchmarking and performance related in msfs-2024 and msfs-2020.
I did have luck to get 5090fe from Nvidia shop with mrsp price and very lucky to get 1700 euros from my 4090. So please, no more “waste of money” kind a replies. I am tired of those in facebook and youtube.
I have done lots of videos allready with my 5090 compared to 4090. I will list them to this post with results. I will use only MSFS2024 so please no requests to make MSFS2020 videos. I dont have 4090 anymore.
Next week i will do 7800x3d vs 9800x3d comparison and off course 7800x3d+4090 vs 9800x3d+5090 is included, so we can get total price of extra FPS with 1000 euros worth of upgrade. And please no “waste of money” replies.
I’ve just upgraded from a 3090FE to a 5090FE that I managed to get lt from Nvidia on Thursdays drop. My 3090 was at 40fps with dlss performance in VR with high settings with TLOD at 100 and OLOD at 120. I’m now getting 60fps with mostly High / Ultra settings. This is in a Cessana 172 at EGLL with Live traffic and Live weather. I alao get 60fps flying around London.
This is on a Quest 3 using VD Godlike resolution VDXR. Overall very happy now as I can use the 120hz setting using SSW.
My Specs are 9800X3D, 64GB 6000mhz CL30, RTX 5090FE. I need to try to undervolt this now as Im using it at 95% power limit at the moment.
In addition to the GPU clock, the 40 and 50 series have a GPU video clock and a GPU crossbar clock, which make undervoltage more difficult. If you undervolt and even if the basic GPU clock is the same as before, the performance drops when those 2nd and 3rd frequencies drop and you can’t influence them.
I’ve managed to drop the total Watts from 575w to 515w on the Steel Nomad benchmark and getting slightly better score than stock. This should help temps as well as keeping the cable temps lower!
I still don’t lunderstand why mainthread is so high (and presumably the limiting factor) in that high res crystal vid? Did you crank up LODs to the max? And if so, doesn’t that distort the results if we want to compare GPUs?
What surprises me here is that whilst, as expected, the GPU has an improved frame time, the CPU is also showing a much improved frame time with the 5090 as well. Looking at around the 00:30 second mark, the CPU time is 6ms faster on the system running the 5090…
You could use 120hz mode and SSW, because you have 60fps in London that is very hard for performance. In coutryside you should hit 70+ fps with DLSS performance.
I normally use 120hz with SSW and its silky smooth with Performance even though I can maintain 60fps over London without it. I wanted to show normal frames without SSW in the video in a stress test which London is.
It also has clouds which hammers cpu especially on High or Ultra.
Silly question. What about the heat ? I had a 3090 msi ventus and it was too hot. The 4090 suprime was really nice compared to the 3090. I am little bit afraid about the heat of the 5090. My first one will be delivered on Friday and will be a msi game triio oc. I have a second one waiting for delivery a 5090 soc suprime. But no delivery date yet confirm but it should be very soon…
My FE reaches 73c on Memory T junction and 62c on GPU core. Much cooler than my 3090 that used to reach 96c on mem and 70 ish on Gpu core! These temps are pushing the GPU to its limits on MSFS 2024
As yours will be 3rd party which should have better cooling, depending on case and fans, you should get slightly better temps than the FE I got.
“it’s another way of saying flight simulation had tons and tons of players many millions actually um thought i’ give you just some some data points like in the last three months uh I think about two-thirds of the players were on 2024 onethird of the players in 2020 cool uh”
Anyone got the 5090 yet? Any feedback? I actually won the right to buy one in the new egg shuffle. I will have it next week. Of course it was the Mac daddy astral OC version. My wallet will never forgive me.
