People with the 5090 what settings did you decide to stick to on 2024?
I only play this game in VR and after some quick tests I decided to stick to 90HZ on the Quest 3 using VD with SSW, as I find this has less jerky head movement if it makes sense. I have used the Ultra Preset but have changed 1 or 2 things to Ultra as they are on High as default. I have also upscaled the resolution to 140% using OXR while using the Performance DLSS 4 settings using Preset K, while have Live Traffic and Live Weather on too.
I find the gameplay smooth with a small reserve in CPU time. GPU has plenty of reserve and everything looks fantastic. I dropped TLOD to 120 and OLOD to 120 as I didn’t think the tax on CPU was worth the final result.
Overall very happy with the difference from my 5900x, 32gb Ram and 3090 FE.
I just lock fps at 45 and the experience was buttery smooth. Highest settings apart from TLOD obviously as that will hammer CPU, especially with Live Traffic and Weather. Is there anything you want me to check?
Do you experience also stutters (sound and image)? I think this is really related to the last driver that we need for the 5090… I hope they will fix that one day…
I got to 5100 x 5340 Resolution (166%) and testing flying over Manhattan at low altitude at constant 45fps. Anything above this I start getting dropped frames to between 41-44fps.
At Heathrow on the runway at 166% I’m at 41 fps but when I get to 450-500ft, it locks at 45fps again.
The screens are crystal clear with no ghosting looking at the speed and altitude numbers go up and down. You can make out each and every number even when you drop altitude fast.
I’m using driver 572.42 and cant say I’ve experienced any dropped sound. I think the rare minor stutters is due to scenery loading from MS end despite me having a 3gb Fibre connection.
Me I have put dlss quality and quality have a solid 55 fps with good high value in settings. Indeed the stutters depends on the network I think. Sometimes you have, sometimes not… they have to solve that. By the way it looks like they are working on vr a little bit I see even if not announced in the release note…
